"Public Works" is a new video format I'm trying out. Let me know if you like it, and if so, what topics you'd like me to cover in the future!

Was reading a forum posting written by a diver who cleans these tanks. He went into great detail how they were frequently called to remove animal corpses from these tanks. Oh, and a few special times, he had to work with police to remove human corpses. In our drinking water. Filter your water, people.

Ae recently lost water within our utility network. We are being told that major leaks drained the reservoirs. All of this got several of us wondering how smart meters work, specifically, how do they communicate?

If everyone showed around the same time then the average you mentioned is not the average. The average is included with the showers because it happens every day so that it the average. Not sure you understand what average means

In my country we have 2 storage tanks one underground and one on roof we pump water in the underground tank and store it as reserve and use the tank on our roof to use water on daily basis

Our city has no visible elevated water tanks, however what people don't realize is that a fairly sizeable portion of the city is served by a hidden water tank that is buried under one of our tall hills, it doesn't work for all the city because there is housing above it, but I'm sure it helps a lot for the portion of the city below that tank, the rest of the city relies mostly on pumps though.

So they can pump extra chemical to individual home if they needed to they can? If that’s the case then my water source been compromised/sabotage/🤢! I was ironing my clothes and I needed water for the iron to do the steaming and all of the sudden the iron got sticky it was hard to iron my clothes! Never had issue before

When you think about it, the flow of water and the flow of electricity aren’t really that different, the only real difference is electricity is pure energy, and water flow is a combination of matter and energy. Both flow from high energy to low energy, both keep going until they can reach ground and if they can’t, they don’t flow at all. If you want to get technical, you can measure the flow of water in voltage and current, voltage being the force/volume, and current being the speed/pressure, and even many of the electrical components found in circuits have an equivalent version for water flow, check valves are like diodes, water wheels are like resistors, dams are like switches, or sometimes resistors, pumps are like batteries, and you guessed it, water towers are like capacitors

Having moved to the Midwest a few years ago I've definitely noticed the importance of water towers to public water systems. Every town has one - with their name emblazoned on it. Of course I noticed them when I lived in NYC, but other East Coast cities (like Boston, where I grew up) either benefit from being at sea level and relatively flat or they're crafty at hiding their towers. There was a large, but not elevated, water tower/tank near my grandparents in Arlington, MA (it was at the top of Park Ave., so maybe it was "elevated" for the rest of the city), but other than that I can't recall seeing many water towers.

Do water towers divert the water into the mains supply pipe in the direction of flow or is it via a tee junction? What difference would this choice make?
Also, is the restored head pressure equal to the height of the water in the tower and what influence do differing velocities through the main pipe have on the recharge at the water tower's point of connection?

Nice video. But I haven't seen those in Germany for decades. Maybe that's because water pressure is supposed to be between 2 to 8 atm here and water towers just can't do that.

Just an idea. Make a big bath tub just off shore, let it fill up with water (high Tide) at low tide let it drain via a turbine and store the electricity , same in reverse at low tide.
Free tidal range energy ???? what do you think

There was a water tower near me on the Central Coast of California. They finally tore it down and replaced it with pumps, because it could not be retrofitted to be seismically safe. In an earthquake, a huge weight of water a considerable distance up in the air placed a massive force on the legs supporting the tower, and they finally realized there was no practical way to make sure it was strong enough to survive a major quake. Great video, though!

The way the demand for water is increasing, for long term, I see the only way out is.
1.. Avoid wastage.
2..River linking.
3..Water from terrace tops interlinked to a local water reservoir through out the cities.
4..Bath tubs, RO water filters etc to be banned.
5. More dams to be constructed.

Future wars will be fought over water.

Tallahassee owns the electric company, water supply, sewer, trash pickup, and they have a monopoly on the whole infrastructure. Democrats run Tallahassee like they do Austin, TX. Eff democrats and how much they increase the cost of living from their monopolies.
