Copyright question. I want to do a Halloween book where my original cat character dresses up like a few pop culture characters. Would this be infringement and if so why? For example if I draw him dressed in a generic yellow sponge costume to imitate SpongeBob. (He would still have his cat face and not spongebob's). so not using any copyrighted names, and my art would be original. just parody. Thanks
ОтветитьLooks like the pros outweigh the cons
ОтветитьSo frustrating I received 6 organic reviews on my newly published book but for some reasons I can only read 2 reviews, the others are not visible, any reason?
ОтветитьWell I just wanna print my books using KDP. Since they have a user friendly system and I don't really wish to sell books.
Other printing services are way roo expensive to invest in.
Hey! 16 years old pre-author here. Tips for marketing? (Just discovered this website and am hoping to publish this year!!)
ОтветитьAlways try learning when I'm drunk
Ответитьgreat breakdown of KDP model bro
ОтветитьIt don’t work
ОтветитьI want to try writing and publishing my book on kdp. Is this the right way? Or should I try traditional style,
ОтветитьMy head is spinning with all of this information. I just want my guide book to be available to anyone who it can help. I don't know what to pick.
ОтветитьThank you for the video. I had recently publicly first keep book in August 2022 and I have to say I am very disappointed w kdp. The royalty charge is ok but the shopping charge is ridiculous. I am publishing my book in the UK but for my friends in hingking, n it one of the 6 or 8 regions of keep distribution, the postage is more than the book. I also found the pdf children's book apps is ancient. Very difficult to use or make amendments. Any current photocopy apps or websites e.g. Colorland makes far more sense. Also the choice of prints are so limited. Poor paper quality with the maximum size 10x10 for a square book. The book looks like an £1 cheap book. Even I found it difficult to convince myself to pay £2 for it. But I have to charge nearly £10 per copy did to the print and postage charge. I am totally disappointed w kdp.
ОтветитьBeen working on one story for long time and decided to try and write it out and see how it goes before trying to convert it into the original oncept which was a graphic novel or manga type.
ОтветитьGood video. But doesn't really answer the question. It is a good platform if you like to write but don't really care if you sell books or even if people read them. It is basically free to create a book................After 9 titles, though, i will let you know of my personal experience. If you do not buy advertising, your titles will not show up to prospective readers......what does that mean?......if you do not pay for advertising, no one searching through their e-reader is going to see your work unless they look your books up specifically. Because Amazon only shows popular or paid advertising books in their e-reader for people to search through. It stopes there. You can not browse every book they have in a category anymore..............so, yes, its free. If you want people to see it though, you must pay for advertising or no one ever will. And the cost of advertising a single title will by far be beyond what you will make in sales even with one title.................now, you can promote your book anywhere. But, not on kindle unless you pay for Amazon advertising. You can give your book away for free with Amazon Select, and you might get a few pennies if your book reaches a certain number of pages read. But those dollars are reserved for the most popular books...................so, for a new author with intent to sell, you can expect to pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars per title to let readers on amazon see your work, regardless if it sells or not.................the video tells the truth about publishing, but it does not answer the question.................If you like to write and dont really care about selling or getting people to read your work, well worth the investment in time..................If you are prepared to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars per title to promote your work and get people to read your work, well worth the time....................If you want to sell but do not have a lot of money, find another hobby. Not happening here. If you think you might create a one hit wonder, buy a lottery ticket. Your chances are better and it takes less time...............If you think your work is good enough, find a real publisher who will invest the money in marketing to make it successful.......Amazon lets you have full control and makes millions of dollars every month doing it. But unless you spend a lot of money, you are not going to sell books. And if you do not spend at least a few hundred dollars per title, no one is going to see your work on there platform.
ОтветитьThanks for your videos, they help me understand what I'm getting into. I'm not too impressed with any of the self-publishing companies, so it's choosing the best of the worst with regard to "what is the most accessible to the audience" in the US, Canada and UK. I may even go the route of just having a free download on my website, make it open source, rather than being ripped off by Amazon etc.
ОтветитьOk so there’s Kdp, kdp select, and kindle ? 🙆🏽♂️
ОтветитьWhy do some distributing companies not distribute POD titles? Who are they?
ОтветитьI published my book on Amazon in June. Yet to make sale, but I know I need to work on a few kinks.
ОтветитьThank you for helping beginners. I wrote 4 novels, just for fun. People who knew, asked to read it. I put the first up on KDP twice. Easy for me. Charged $2.99. People seemed to like it. I made $50 dollars, with no advertising. Tried hiring an editor. One editor ripped me off, another kindly offered to double her listed price "because it needs work". Kind of why I wanted an editor. If putting up an unedited book, remind buyers they may return it for a refund. Many readers seem more concerned about authors slips, than whether it's a good story. Their choice. I've read many imperfect book, that have good stories. Still writing for fun. Have four about half completed book.
ОтветитьIf Amazon kdp rejects your book, do they tell you why, and allow you to resubmit it?
ОтветитьSound fx far too loud.
Ответитьthank you for sharing this helpful information. is it possible to take our royalty with master card? because i live in turkey and amazon don't support electronic payments to turkey :(
ОтветитьAnd don't forget the silly ways they differ from other cover upload sites in their color requirements: RGB vs CMYK and all that jazz!! 🙄
ОтветитьNot me over here for years on Kindle like "What is the All Star Bonus Program, of which I have never heard a thing???" 😳 Thanks for covering this, Dale! Looking forward to the AWC with you in July 🤓
ОтветитьHi, when you upload your cover (artwork) to KDP does Amazon put the book title and the other cover text on it, or do you have to do it?
ОтветитьHi, quick question. When writing your own books, do you have to put in your own page numbers or does Amazon do that for you?
ОтветитьSo glad I found your channel. If I choose to publish with KDP, can I change my mind later with that book?
ОтветитьThorough explanation. Thanks.
Ответитьcut the sounds thx
ОтветитьSo whats the least you can make.
ОтветитьHello Dale,
I recently published a book and now it is live. It hasn't made a single sale but it is displaying this message.
"Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back on stock"
What could be the reason for that?
This is the first time this happened to me. I followed all the correct tips to upload this book. Also I have published many books before this one. What could be the reason for this?
Really appreciate your opinion.
Thank you.
Really like your style! Videos are very informative. Thanks.
ОтветитьGood videos but PLEASE lose all the pops and snaps. With headphones they hurt!
ОтветитьHi Dale,
Great video as always. Very informative and actually timely as I'm strongly thinking about self-publishing my own books. I just have a few queries first that I hope you don't mind answering.
1) It will be approximately May or June before I self-publish my fiction book. Given the current state of affairs in the world, is now a bad time to do this?
2) Expanding on my previous query, since this is my first book publishing through KDP, is it safer in a monetary sense to just publish it in Kindle format and not paperback? There's approximately 82k words so it would be about 250 pages.
3) Could an author upload their book in .Mobi format or is it safer (and less frustrating) to do it through KPF?
4) At launch I will probably price it at 0.99 and after a week bump it up to 3.99, as most books in that genre are around that price range. Do you think that's a sound strategy? It wouldn't be my first book on Amazon but it is my first book self-publishing on that platform.
Thanks again for great content. Much appreciated. 👍🙏
Another great informative video!
ОтветитьAll the noise popping, whizzing, swishing, etc..... is a complete turn off. I won't be following you any longer. Shame really because your content is otherwise very good.
ОтветитьThe dude flailing was pretty much me two weeks ago.
ОтветитьOff topic-
Is a book cover able to be made when you're half way through the book? I already have written 20k and have a FULL knowing of what I want.
Payout is 60 days after end of month. Why such a delay?
ОтветитьYou definitely covered a lot in a very short time. Thank you.
ОтветитьI’m launching my book in two weeks. I’ve got my ad stacks ready, almost built up my arc team, and got it all ready to go. Hoping KDP is worth it.
ОтветитьWhat is included in expanded distribution? Does your book list in stores like Walmart and Barnes n Noble? I always thought KDP only sold to the Amazon platform.
ОтветитьLove you videos ! Thank you this helps so much!
