Here's my theory Kishimoto has mommy issues and just wanted to introduce kaguya into the story as soon as possible and Black Zetsu was actually a representation of him and his mommy issues. Imagine if he waited until boruto to introduce kaguya and gave us spoilers about her in the end of shippuden, woudn't have been so much better?

The fact that SJ put kishimoto in this crappy position for boruto frustrates me.
The black zetsu kaguya mess, I think, has really been further highlighted by events in Boruto. Because it no longer feels like ninjas with supernatural powers, it feels like it's trying to evolve into DB with these insane power levels. Really, Madara should have been where things leveled out, power scaling wise.
With part one showing base ninja levels and Madara in Shippuden showing peak power levels. Introducing the otsutsuki while interesting as lore needed to be just lore or tailored more to suit the story.

Just finished my 3rd rewatch, never ever at any point did I see a key moment and go “damn zetsu planned this who cares”. I’m not saying it’s not stupid but it dosnt ruin the story. Zetsu altered the tablet, manipulated obito madara and Nagato, probably instigated a lot of senju uchia conflicts throughout history, but each of the decisions character make throughout the show are theirs and solely there’s. Zetsu didn’t make Naruto see Sasuke as his friend, zetsu didn’t make Naruto empathize with gaara, zetsu didn’t make itachi choose the village, zetsu didn’t make Sasuke leave the village, etc. The story is so much bigger than any zetsu manipulation and people love to overblow it out of proportion, it’s not that big a deal bro, still dumb tho.

In all honesty, had we been given more information regarding the Sage of 6 paths earlier on in the series. This entire event could've been avoided.

In my opinion still worst retcon was turning Itachi into good guy, he was suppose to be from beginning bad guy and suddenly "I did it for village" thing.
I wont tell that i hate him but i was expecting him to be 3rd strongest Uchiha like after Obito with pure evil motivation.

I genuinely think zetsus entire arc and place in the story could be interesting if it was teased or well implemented at all

“Kishimoto was forced to do Kaguya for a spin-off” was that ever stated? Seems super false. In fact keeping her as mostly a legend and then having her be the Boruto villain would have been far better if you need a Boruto villain instead of all the side and random Otsutski.

What the actual fuck are you talking about? He literally saved the series. If he didn’t kill Madara, everyone dies and Madara wins. Kishimoto wasn’t forced by Jump to create Kaguya so that Boruto could be made, he was forced by himself because he wrote Madara too strong. There was literally no character who could beat him, he had to be absorbed. Zetsu was always foreshadowed as one of the most important characters in the story, you clearly just have bad media literacy.

Kishimoto was never force, he did want to introduce that concept by it's own and know try to correct him becuase how would try to correct the man that created one of your Best sellers. The two things that he introduce were the samurias and aliens, things that he try to create with his New manga that was cancel, samuria 8. Every mangaka had some persone to help them with the ideas for a story and their job is to help the mangaka to don't mess up the story but kishi in that point was a god that can't be correct by anyone. The one that put his fit on the grown for great part of naruto left the studio before the idea of the shinobi war apearse on the table. He was never force is what he wanted at the point that he made the same concept for samurai 8 and it was cancel so he decided to return to boruto only because nobody would complain, he was the god that created naruto after all.

I dont agree that zetsu manipulated the whole story and took everyones agency. I think he took madaras agency and madara controlled the other people. I dont think the protagonists lost agency

I feel exactly the same way about "Allen: Covenant." Ridley took one of the most iconic, terrifying monsters in movie history, the xenomorph, and downgraded it to just another man-made bio weapon. All because he decided he wanted to repurpose the franchise to be about human hubris.

When was Kishimoto forced to do the things that you mentioned such as being forced to kill off Madara by others? Or is that just an opinion? I’ve tried finding evidence for this but it’s only peoples opinions that I’ve found. Not actual evidence.

It could’ve so easily been fixed by having madara being beaten by Naruto and the rest, everyone being in their most vulnerable state and no one left to fight they let their guard down and black zetsu would come and consume madara rather than backstabbing him. Not only will this solve the incomplete madara writing, it will also be a great curveball/plot twist rather than a confusing one, the kaguya fight felt absolutely rushed so with this change there is a lot more space to build on kaguya than instantly launching into a full on “final” final boss with Obito and kakashi pulling some bs to beat kaguya

At the time he was just making these things up for the excitement and suspense, but didn’t pick up on what to do with some of these threads long-term until later. Basically he was making it up as he went. Even with Sasuke’s backstory, at the time of the Wave Arc, all that had been thought out was that Sasuke had an elder brother who had done something bad, and that was it. Kishimoto admits the planning was very hazy at this point. However, at the point where Itachi is actually introduced, Kishimoto had decided to secretly make him a good guy, but the reason he did something bad was because of circumstances. The thing that destroyed Naruto was Masashi Kishimotos terrible writing. Kishi isn’t a good writer. His editors helped him make a lot of the story decisions in early Naruto(like moving the story into the Chunin Exams early, Kishi wanted to give Team 7 more missions)but I believe once Naruto blew up Kishi had more say so and he started taking the story line in a not so great direction cough*great ninja war arc*cough, hack weeze 😐 shit you can see it with him taking Boruto over the man just isn’t the greatest of writers.

I think you’re overreacting a lot tbh, I dislike the ending of naruto, but I think using Black Zetsu as a medium to introduce Kaguya is not necessarily a bad thing. Sure it’s not the best, but it bridged the connection between the two plots
