[TF2] The Curious Case of Cheating in MvM

Ive run in to schwabbel a tacobastard got kicked for saying i like cheaters in mvm i dont even cheat myself i just thinks it makes it easier and time saving for people who grind for australiums i dont cheat and Would never cheat but i think its understandable

The question is
Is cheating in a single player campaign different from cheating in a team based campaign?

Ie invincibility in dying light
Vs
Invincibility in left 4 dead

Nobody complains except the people who want difficulty or something

I play mc, the analogy goes

I’m starting to get fed up with the notion that if you do something you know is wrong, it makes you a bad person. Giving yourself an unfair advantage and damaging the integrity of the game by cheating is wrong. Full stop. But so what? It’s illegal to speed, and it can be reasoned that it’s dangerous to those around you. For me to think I can manage that danger just so I can get where I’m going faster is selfish and immoral. And yet here I am, making decisions that arguably affect the safety of those around me. Don’t delude yourself into thinking something is morally ok so you feel less bad about doing it. I’m certain a lot of people will miss my point here, so I won’t try too hard to clarify it, but literally every single person does immoral things from time to time. Do what you think is right, but if you decide to try something you think might be wrong, don’t go all the way to the dark side and start trying to justify it.

I know there are groups where they hire these bots, what is the payment for the bot? buy him a ticket, that's the hacker's profit, free tours, and everything he wins goes to his other account

Lately I have come across cheaters on the mvm, and to be honest they make the game easier, they can literally complete the game alone, and that takes away the purpose of the game, but once or 2 per tour is not bad, let's be honest, we all buy 4 tickets to see if in the end we get an australium or a garbage drop,and it feels horrible that after 3 hours you only get garbage that is not even worth half a key

I think my argument against cheating would boil down to something between the 'fun' and 'loot' aspects. If I'm paying for a ticket, it's because I want to play the mode to earn loot, and that's the key part there: EARNING the loot. A bot would absolutely ruin a game for me simply because it takes away that aspect of the mode, and that kind of goes double if I managed to get an Australium. Having that sort of achievement soured would really fucking suck.

The solution is simple. Remove sniper from the game

Honestly I don't care if you cheat at all, sure it's annoying but it's pretty easy to go in community servers. As long as I can still find ways to have fun then fuck it. Go cheat it isn't effecting me anymore.

this is funny, i don't play tf2, this just was recommended to me bc i like all video game essays and think pieces but the point about devaluing directly correlates to something i DO care about.. shiny hunting in pokemon, specifically full odds vs methods and shiny charm. my main argument has always been that the baby odds devalue shinies as a whole, something i spend thousands of hours to get without resorting to lowering the odds.. but that section in this video definitely made me think and i will consider that perspective from now on at the very least.

MVM is a job. I wake up, and go to work. I work for 8 hours then I unwind after work.

I miss how the game was befor it had a market, so this video made me change mi mind on cheating. Keep cheating and crash the market.

Me personally, i think cheating in mvm is fine as long as its only 1 or 2, maybe 3 cheaters. Any more and I’m literally playing a waiting simulator. Both the gambling and gameplay are cool, taking away one is kinda mid. I would understand having 4 or 5 cheaters if it meant I wouldnt run into Basil tho

I think I would ask a cheater in MVM to leave or stop cheating--not because it's morally wrong to me, but because... well, I play TF2 single-player a lot. When I play with other people, I want to have fun with other people facing the same challenges as me and trying to improve their skills alongside me! It's a social game. I wanna play with people who are playing the same game as me.

Anyways, holy crumbs, you weren't kidding about both these groups being the worst.

I play mvm for the drops, not the aussies but the kill streak kits. I’m aware that getting the kits is cheaper to buy them online, but I’m trying to build up my own collection
