My girlfriend couldn't hold it anymore and left to go to the bathroom right before this scene started. I almost didn't have the heart to tell her because it was by far the best scene in the whole movie.

What makes this even more sad is the fact that he could have used the one-handed “I love you”, but he said each word independently, making it far more meaningful.

Should have chucked the axe in the nearby hut on top of which the alien was earlier, it might have caused enough noise for alien to think someone is inside that hut.

Tbh, if he really wanted to ensure family's survival he would've known that her and the wife are the most important and need to live (as protectors and baby-makers- something they have NO trouble doing in an apocalypse which is so irresponsible but whatever). He could have just thrown an axe somewhere else or something I feel. But John Krasinski gotta John Krasinski. Still a powerful moment. I blame that kid for shouting "DAD!" Maybe that's why the parents are so keen to have a baby...to produce a non-dumb death-causing child for once in the family.
