i fish a tfo lefty signature 2 i got at cabelas on clearance for 170. And the cheeky preload basic fly reel with rios best floating line they sell. I get that thing down to backing after 2 casts. Its the best rod i have ever had and the only one i ever want for a 3-6 wt. Its a 5. it is sooooo good the fish dont care about my gear. they care about the fly i present. if i can get it to them ill do just as well as i would with a 1000 dollar rod
Ответитьlol i use a 40 dollar kit and its great for me
ОтветитьI got a Scott Session $675 nymph rod for Christmas from my wife. I fished with a friend who has a 10’ 3wt Maxcatch Nano. We both agreed the Nano is a better rod at $150. I sold the Session and bought three Nanos in 10’ 3wt, 9’ 4wt, and 9’ 5wt. Never looking back!
Ответитьmy grandfathers airflow classic 8' 3-5wt is doing just fine for my type of fishing great video
ОтветитьI have used a st croux 6 lb 10’ rod for 20 years. And I love it. The man running the fly shop in Lander Wy set me up with it for my first fly rod and it.came in around $200 all in 20 years ago
ОтветитьWOW, 900 try 1700.00. Newest Orvis
Ответитьnice set up, I'm using an old willow stick I cut off a tree when I was 12, I might have to upgrade now
ОтветитьThe rod is all that really matters, but we do like to dress it up with a nice reel. :D
ОтветитьLook at the max catch series of rods for good budget rods. They offer euro specific rods for under $100.
ОтветитьI nymph with echo carbon XL, and I love it. It's pretty durable, and I have put a lot of fish in the net with this rod. I dry dropper and euro nympth with the echo rod. However I do want to upgrade at one point.
ОтветитьI thought fly fishing was complicated but after watching this video I really want to try to get into it.
ОтветитьGood review, but you should have let your buddy "Andrew" talk more about his perspective at the end of the video. You just cut your bro off and talk over him.
ОтветитьHi I just recently started finishing again. I'm 72 and would love to try this set up. Thanks guys have a Great day .awesome video.
ОтветитьNice video👍
ОтветитьThe real test would be the 1992 to 1993 Sage Light Line Series 3wt, 4wt, 9ft Rods. Do a test with that and let us know. Now those are beautiful Rods.
Ответитьi agree with most people here , the quality of the rod is not the most important thing here ; you guys demonstrated with your good skills that the most important thing is your skills , how you cast
and chose the proper fly , i dont own expensive rods but functional , would like to have them but i can't ; good luck an make some more fly fishing videos
Ive seen those boxes! Maine? 😊
ОтветитьCuz your cheap, like my brother I law
ОтветитьF that go pro
ОтветитьLet it go
ОтветитьYou guy have more money than brains.
ОтветитьI've got a $40 white river reel I bought 20 yrs ago with $300 rod both 5 wt. Caught 5lb browns, 3 lb bass and everything in-between. Both still work well.
ОтветитьDoesnt matter. I would NEVER spend $900 on a reel. Ever. For any reason. Its not a matter of finance. Its a matter of principle. You know how many fish id have to catch to make that price worthwhile? More fish than i could catch in 10 lifetimes. Pretty ridiculous that people actually do. I hope the cheaper reel won. I cant watch this becauee he keeps mentioning thw ludicrous price his buddy paid, and it makes mw physically sick
ОтветитьHow is a $200 rod inexpensive? lol
ОтветитьThanks for the comparison I always wondered about the different cost of rods and if it matters
Ответитьthe beat at the start hits so hard. i was playing a game while atching this vid and vibed on the beat
ОтветитьBought the echo rod for my brother-in-law a year ago, and he loves it.
ОтветитьAmazing video guys! I 100% agree with you that you do not need a 900 dollar rod to catch fish. I started out with a 60 dollar Cabela’s rod and caught fish.
ОтветитьEcho Rods are designed by one of the greatest casters and fisherman in the world. Its meant to fish like world class without paying world class prices.
ОтветитьYou guys remind of when I was young and couldn't get enough of fly fishing. I'm 70 now and feel young watching you fish. Keep the enthusiasm going it only gets better, plus you have access to so much great equipment. I started with an 8' Fenwick 6wt glass rod that caught 7" brook trout to 31" steelhead. Stay true and don't get caught up in the hype and fashion that seems to have permeated fly fishing. Keep casting.
ОтветитьGreat vid 😃
Ответитьbeen wanting to get into fly fishing for a while and this video explained a lot i didn’t know. also i wish trout around here could get to those sizes in the creeks lol
ОтветитьA beginner wont be able to utilize every aspect of a 1000 setup, i started out flyfishing with a courtland 8.5 foot 4-5 wt i bought from wallmart for 80$ as a kit, its much more about learning the water and fish behavior year round as well as the forage, my 80$ rod still holds all my pb river fish
ОтветитьNice fish bro and you’re expert fisherman.
ОтветитьNice fish you caught on this small creek
ОтветитьSuch good videos. Thanks.
ОтветитьI use a 5 wt 9' four-section TFO Lefty Kreh pro. Bought it for $200 ten years ago, and I challenge anyone to demonstrate what their $800 Sage or Scott rod can do that the TFO can't.
But, then, I'm also a big believer in public education over private, and feel that families that are straining to send their children to Harvard/Princeton/Yale at five times the cost of their perfectly good state university are fools.
damn yuppys..my 100 dollar rod is just as good..
ОтветитьIts not how many fish you catch in one rod vs the other. Its all about comfort. If you fish for more than 8 hours, you will notice the difference. As you said, if you are an experienced angler you will appreciate the advantages of having a higher price rod. However, there are many other mid price rods much better than the ECHO Carbon XL where the difference against a $900 rod it`s non noticeable (Orvis Recon - ECHO Shadow X).
ОтветитьIt's the Indian, not the arrow.
Ответить$1000.00 rods are like $500.00 dollar drivers. They look great in the parking lot. Up your game? Not so much...
ОтветитьI really enjoyed your video and Im learning things I never knew thankyou both Im learning all i can about fly fishing so i can start my adventures lol
ОтветитьI owned a lot of Teir 1 gear since the late 1970s and lost it all in Hurricane Katrina . Since then I have been fishing a pair of Okuma magnitude rod/reel outfits ( 5/6 and 9/10 ) since they came out and I am just as effective . You are correct in saying unless You can fish them side by side Most anglers will never realize the difference . Hell , the fish don't care so have fun and fish .
ОтветитьCan you do a cheap vs expensive rod test of non-euro setup where casting is more important?
ОтветитьImpressive fish
Ответить25$ china set perfect working in this place too
Ответитьdo these prices include reels?
ОтветитьPs......what ross reel is that
ОтветитьIt's easy catch fish where you guys are at even easier on stock rainbows..... beware of the person who fishes the same gear year in and year out
Ответитьwould love to see something like this again, but new vs antique rod. Or just video of fishing with an antique rod
Ответить
