Great video ! I got to interview John Dobson in Australia 35 years ago for a magazine article . He was not really interested in telescopes per se and couldn't understand why amateurs obsessed over them so much . He was really interested in Cosmology and Spirituality , and what easily built large scopes could show people so they would really believe by actually seeing, telescopes were purely and end to a means for him . If I remember correctly he was a proponent of the Steady State theory of the origin of the cosmos , always a quite unpopular view !

He was very humble , could have had anything on the lunch menu on me, but chose a $4 Pumpkin soup and a glass of "intergalactic oxygen"" ( water ) to the great amusement of the waiter . My favorite story he told was how he sent a 24" telescope mirror across America , with postage stamps attached directly to the glass . His belief was that if everyone handling it in the postal chain could see exactly what it was they would be careful with it ,. He said it arrived in perfect condition . That was the kind of alternative thinker he was . ( And there was also the story of how his then 10 year old son came to be conceived at 64 years of age , and it involved a 40 gallon metal barrel full of water for grinding a mirror on, and a rattlesnake ....)

My Samsung S23 Ultra has a legit 100MP camera that takes shockingly good pics of the moon.

I have a Nikon P1000 which is an incredible telescope. The other night I managed to identify a pink dwarf next to some krypton in the sky.

Mmh I would say look after a carl zeiss jena telementor of the last generations. But I think they are hard to get in uk. Even in Germany they are hard to get and expensive

Why dont companies make newts with only one arm for the secondary mirror? Or thinner veins?

There is a massive refrigerator telescope at the Roseland observatory in Cornwall, i seen Venus as a crescent meny years ago now, one of the most fantastic things i have observed, planets are so much fun

Astobiscuit is in the top echelon on intenet amateur astronomers. It's a shame more don't recognize it. These videos are always a blast to watch.

I wanted to ask something to you,i have tried to resolve this issue but noone and i literally mean noone has been able to give me a proper solution. So i am here seeking advice from one of the best astrophotographers in the world,my issue is that i need to buy a new scope and eventually a setup too but i dont really know what i should get and ik you have posted several vids about it but seeing them helped me decide the type i want but not exactly what I should get. My budget is somewhat at 2000 pounds and i would love to build an observatory too so i would like to have your royal advice Mr astrobiscuit. And anyone else reading this comment can also give me their opinions. Thx alot

I’m not sure if people know how much time and effort you put into editing those tapes putting the music together and then watching it over and over to make sure it sounds and looks pretty good before you put it out and then your eyes crossing your fingers and hoping that you don’t get a bunch of credit comments back I’m sure don’t worry about that man God is happy with what you’re doing if you’re happy with what you’re doing and jumping up and down God is too

Cool vid, as essentially all yours are. But bruv - why didn’t you feature some actual examples of shots taken using the various telescopes you’ve highlighted here? I get that there was obviously some of that, but it wasn’t presented in any coherent manner IMO
