I know you have already covered it somewhere, could you point me to the video that explains what "regular mud" is. I have learned a great deal from watching your videos but have been using quick set lately without topping with any other mud for my patches. When I was topping, I would use Ready Patch for the top coat or light weight joint compound with a little plaster of paris mixed in.
ОтветитьThanks for the information. It will be put to use.
ОтветитьOverkill
ОтветитьAlways great work and advice!!
ОтветитьWhat's regular mud?
ОтветитьHi, how are you? This is just a suggestion, okay? But it would help a lot. In the past, the sockets in houses and apartments were all colored. Grayish blue and grayish green. But now people have changed their color to white, gray or dark. These in excessive colors irritate people and don't bring joy. The white yes, but it's good to have color too. Hopefully one day they'll change it again and go back to the old colors. They used to bring more joy to homes. Colors also influence us. The people.Depending on the color, it brings joy, among other things. A hug.
ОтветитьPaper tape..?
ОтветитьCan I use fibafuse instead since that’s what I have?
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьWell done, not your 1st rodeo.
ОтветитьDone lots of Sheetrock repairs over the years. I enjoyed seeing this one as I have done it just like this, wondering if I was really doing a repair. Turns out Yes I was doing an acceptable repair
ОтветитьI know this is professional but I’ve always found it funny that the first step in fixing blown out drywall is by making the hole bigger. LoL
Ответитьuse a mesh maybe?
ОтветитьThank for your knowledge you explain really well
Ответить45 electrical outlets in my house with textured walls. The drywall guys cut the holes for all but 2 of them too big. If it weren’t for the texture, I’d feel pretty confidant now to do this myself and never have to see those guys again now that I found you.
ОтветитьGood work
ОтветитьWhat if it's sunken in? How do you adjust or pull out the box?
ОтветитьBeen doing tapping for years as a general contractor. Self taught, learning a lot from your channel. I always use all purpose lite for all three coats. How do you avoid air bubbles!? Hard to see them until the primer coat of paint dries.
ОтветитьIn Ohio we don't call them crumbs, we call them burger's
ОтветитьAnyone who’s taped and mudded as an average dude knows what he’s doing ain’t as easy as it looks. Not for me at least. I’ll still watch and try to apply these useful methods!
ОтветитьI wish you had put mud in all the cavities first but its all good.
ОтветитьThankd, great knowledge.
ОтветитьI know this is an older video but I appreciate it. We are on a budget so we are doing a lot of the work ourselves on a house that is square, but not really square. So I've learned so much from you and I am so grateful. Thank you! ❤
ОтветитьWhat do you do if the single gang box no longer fits.
ОтветитьWatching you do mudding makes me realize I swear the whole time I do it. 🤣
I'm like wtf. You even handled the crumbs like a boss "ah more crumbs, I hate that" he says.
Me- * ** **********
did you consider taping over the box to give your electrician a break?
ОтветитьAwesome video, thank you so much for sharing!
ОтветитьAs an electrician, I would appreciate more mud on the top and bottom. That way my device (switch or receptacle) will have a firmer purchase.
Ответитьdamn wish I saw this last week. I was putting in an old work outlet box that was just clipped to the drywall, while pushing the wires back into the box I pushed too hard and had a blow out on the side. I ended up puling the whole box out. Cut out about 12" by 16" to run from stud to stud, put in a new box that attached to the side of the stud, then taped and mudded in the new thing. I never thought of just using mud and tape/mesh to fill it in.
ОтветитьBig blessing im feeding my family on a lay off with yo videos Michigan baby
ОтветитьI guess one thing to add here is the use of plastic 'spacers' for the possibly sunken outlets and switches to make them properly meet the faceplates.
Ответитьnice technique. that crazy yellow box... what does that mean... 3 wire madness?
ОтветитьWe don't want to cover the electrical box too much as the electricians hate that. Then proceeds to cover the electrical box 😂
ОтветитьI bet u coat flats butts and bead with a six inch knife fuck you
ОтветитьYou put a bandaid on a artery you're fired prefill first with 5 minute easy sand I can't tell you how u suck
ОтветитьI've done this with taping mud.
ОтветитьAttention to detail in creating the video like this is extremely helpful. The commentary is fantastic, mentioning the different compounds used and what you also can use instead to keep it simple but will just be done in longer time (multiple days) which is just ok for a DIY:er as opposed to a professional with time constraints. I like these "messy" videos where "mishaps" happen and how you deal with them. That is of top instructional value. This is not rocket science, but sure feels like it when you are starting out, but videos like this put things into a very helpful perspective.
ОтветитьWhat size putty knife are you using? Is it 6”?
ОтветитьCan I send you a pic of the mess in trying to close up? I have a big opening with wires hanging out, and spiders keep crawling in. I need to close this the right way and the flood that did it don't know how to fix the mess they caused
ОтветитьThis is what I'm SLOWLY learning about drywall - to taper to "invisibility" you work an area much larger than just the area that needed patching. He started with a 4" tall area that needed work and ended with a 3 foot area of new mud.
ОтветитьSeemed like alottt of steps and work for just that
Ответить👍👍🌹🌹
ОтветитьIf you hang drywall like that quit bro for real
ОтветитьCome In
ОтветитьThat extended sanding tool is a must have for anyone doing drywall even if you’re just a DIYer. Has really
Improved my finishing game
Oh my gosh- I watched this almost a year ago and have done this trick so many times - works like a gem! Used 20 min and got done in no time and you'd never know there was ever a patch around those boxes-Thanks so much for the tip👍
ОтветитьDude, you have the 6in fibatape in the bag, use it.
ОтветитьI'll bet the electrician won't be happy with the overlap.
ОтветитьI’ve done this as a diy, but I used 6 inch fibafuse, lay it overtop of the box, and then cut out a square middle for the box. I worked super well
I find it’s easier and flatter so it’s easier to diy, less to float out. Not also this, because the tapes don’t overlap, it’s more likely that you don’t screw it up and the face plate looks off.
Note, I’m not a drywall guy, just sharing my diy experience
is it possible to prefill with durabond and then tape over that prefill?
