...What if this is why Twelve had to be the one to throw the lever to save Gallifrey? It took the entire time he was in the Confession Dial for the Tardis to calculate everything, and it wasn't even a fragment of one percent done in Eleven's time?

assuming he spends, say, 6 hours in each loop, can someone do the math and calculate at least how many loops he went through if he spent, say 5 billion years in the trap?

Can anyone explain this episode to me. If the doctor died and a clone made, one why did he never regenerate, two surely it means he is not the doctor now, just a clone with the doctors memory?

How many seconds in eternity the Shepard’s boy says there this mountain of pure diamond it takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it and a little bird comes it sharpens it’s beak on the diamond mountain and when the entire mountain is chiselled away the first second of eternity would of passed you must think that’s a hell of a long time personal I think that’s a hell of a bird

"Combien de secondes dans l'éternité ?
Le garçon berger dit:
"Voici une montagne de pur diamant.
Cela prend une heure pour l'escalade, et une heure pour la contourner.
Tout les 100 ans, un petit oiseau vient, et aiguise son bec sur la montagne de diamant.
Et quand la montagne toute entière sera erodée, la première seconde de l'éternité se sera écoulée."
Vous trouvez ça extrêmement long?
Personnellement, je crois que c'est un sacré oiseau."

Peter Capaldi

I have friends and family who know I love doctor who but know little to nothing about it themselves. It always confuses them whenever I tell them without context that my favourite line in the history of the show is “Personally, I think that’s a hell of a bird”

Just imagine what could have been if Capaldi was given the scripts as good as Tennant's... I still feel so jealous about the fact that the best actor got such poor writing.

The Doctor : Oh, big, big mistake, really huge. Didn't anyone ever tell you there's one thing you never put in a trap, if you're smart, if you value your continued existence, if you have any plans about seeing tomorrow, there's one thing you never, ever put in a trap.

Bob : And what would that be, sir?

The Doctor : Me.

This is a brilliant episode. Making the concept of grief the villain of the week. Letting the Doctor explore that emotion instead of just moving on like he usually does.

Everything about this episode was done the best it possibly could have been. Capaldi was at his best, the writing was brilliant, Gold's score was excellent, the direction was great, the editing was perfect.

Everything came together to make an episode that should be top 5 in anyone's best Who episodes ever list.

We find out later he spent 4.5 billion years in the confession dial. 1st off, the earth is that old and it's only halfway thru it's lifespan, just for some time context. And if we assume this loop took just a day or two, and he remembers it all when he comes out, that's so, so, so, so many days to be chiseling and a wall with your fist

I've never seen anyone comment, but this Doctor in the end is just an exact copy, like the real one was disintegrated to record all the information on the machine and thus make several copies? Because the whole episode shows a copy burning to give life to the next one, so this ends up being a copy too '-' am I crazy? did I miss something?
