What about hell or high water?

Nobody is a next level action flick. This is an a guy who has a secret ninja master. It’s just a guy with a ton of training. Who’s willing to take a hit in the fight scenes are so brilliant because of it.

Wind River is EXCELLENT.

Buried is stunning.

I’ve been busy and hardly to watch movies which I love. Definitely gonna check all the movies you recommend it’s like you found the best of modern cinema

Started on watching “The Wailing” and I can say this is going to be a good list.

Another FreeVee movie to look for is "Road Games" with Stacy Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis. A fun movie that takes place in the Australian Outback with Keach as an overtired truck driver. I've heard it compared to Hitchcock's "Rear WIndow" but in cars. I think you've might have mentioned it before, but since it's on FreeVee I'm mentioning it.

THE WAILING was my first Korean film view and it was unforgettable. They mish/mash multiple genres together masterfully, and the ending scene is one you'll never forget. Very good mystery

I agree The Road and Wind River deserve to be high up on the list BUT what a 1-2 punch of depressing movies!

🇬🇧 Young Ones aka Bad Lands: Road to Fury

Hi Darren. For me it's the opposite. I find comedy to be the most rewatchable of the genres. But the two elements that make a flick most worth rewatching for me has little to do with genre. They are that I really liked the movie, and I have someone to watch it with who has never seen it. I love watching their reaction to those special moments that make the film so good.

Sorry, but Automata was bloody awful. Melanie was so miss cast and the dialogue was cringe worthy. Just a big no.

Fantastic selection, as always. Most of them have been on my to-watch list for a while, and some I've watched already. Among the ones I haven't, I'll be kicking it off with Believer. Thank you for your succinct and compelling presentation and analyses of these gems. Always makes me wanna drop all my stuff, and just go on a binge.

Downloaded Freebie. Horrible interface. No search function that I can find. Clicking a thumbnail starts the movie immediately. No synopsis, cast list or trailer.

The Wailing is easily the best film I've seen in the last 10 years. Keeps you guessing the entire movie without any dull moments. Even better than Parasite and Burning IMO 10/10

I'm likely an outlier, but man, that's a lot of "has some dark elements".....

Glad you included The Wailing. I think instead of Guns Akimbo, I would strongly recommend Hardcore Henry (2016), a lot of gunplay wrapped within a good Sci-Fi story. Interestingly, Believer (2019) is a remake of Drug Wars (2013) which I feel is the better version of the same story. If there is one movie I would recommend, that had a very limited theater opening is Radius (2017). A small, Sci-Fi, low-budget film with an engaging storyline with a big twist at the end.

Believer is great, the villain is a great actor. RIP

Take Me Home Tonight is an absolute blast… as someone who went through high school in the 80’s , it feels very real. Topper Grace is adorable and the soundtrack is KILLER. My FAVORITE movie of the 80’s, Valley Girl, has THE BEST 80’s SOUNDTRACK EVER.

The Beliver is the best movie with an amazing drug scene. I have seen it on A Prime. The Korean movie The King is even better .

So used to these kinds of lists being either:

1. Movies that were highly publicized mainstream releases and are in no way hidden, underrated, or cult films (and that often even did decent box office)
2. Retreads of endless similar lists made up mostly of genuine cult classics but that have long since saturated the zeitgeist (I'm looking at you, Boondock Saints)

THIS list on the other hand is exactly as advertised. I'm legitimately speechless. And as someone that saw Bubba Ho-Tep in the theatre on opening weekend, I award you a dozen standing slow claps and 100 point to Slytherin.
