Should You Play New World Aeternum? (150+ Hour Player Beta Impressions)

Im pretty excited for a fresh start of new world, was super addicted when it first launched. I need to pick up the expansion, should I just pick it up now or do you guys think it will go on sale near the launch?

I wasn’t sold until I pushed through the campaign in Brightwood. That’s where the game finally seemed to let go of the training wheels a bit and you had to engage more intelligently with the combat.

Those first few zones do drag on a bit and the game feels like a Ubisoft title with all of the quest icons and fetch quests. This is my biggest concern that it copies too many things and doesn’t do anything original.

My only choice now is to fork o we the $80 Canadian to play at release or wait until the price comes down a bit.

one of the few videos that actually have a good structure on the game and what's to come, i look forward to returning and playing with our new console brothers, you guys are in for a real treat, the first 300 hours are heaven, no other game does early and mid game better than NW.

if you're new pick the highest populated server, yes there will be more competition for mobs and resource gathering but i promise it will pay off after leveling when you need people to group with for chest, dungeon and pvp runs. once a server starts to dip around 1200 pop the death spiral will start, and AGS wont migrate servers quickly.

Been playing NW since release with over 3000 hours, and for me I love the end-game, but stopped playing before the group trials came out and never got to experience them. Now there's a full raid coming out (as it has shown on nwdb) and I feel so far behind because I can't find people to run these group trials with to even get raid-like experience. The player-base has such a huge PVP scene that when Wars and OPR get too repetitive they leave the game, thus leaving the PVE behind with it.

The rapier is one of the hardest weapons to consistently hit with against another player, the lock-on changes make the rapier absolutely busted in PVP. There's clips of people pvp'ing in the beta while blindfolded, and winning just based on the sounds queues. The lock on feature has completely eliminated a core mechanic of the game.

I'll play up to character cap (60 probably, something will have to grab me for me to get the expansion and level 65) then play something else.

I playing regardless what you influencer think, I am hoping for a way better version of eso type of game with better graphics and art style .

Having such a hard time deciding on what my next games going to be, the D4 expansion, NW, TNL, POE2 - I'd play them all of time wasn't an issue. One concern I have about NW is their long-term vision for the game and end game content. I highly enjoyed the beta though.

200hrs wow wait till you do over a 1000hrs.
Spending days chopping trees down is not fun it's boring.
PVP players will always cry no matter what you do.

But how easy is it to strafe or dodge the range lock on??

I plays ESO for 6+ years and tried often to get my wife into it. Showed her new world while the beta was out and now she cant wait till release 😂

This game is beautiful and addicting. I’d say you have more like 300hours of gameplay before things get stale. Even then, it’s not really stale. There’s way more to do than there used to be. 3 PvP modes and 13 dungeons, plus open world pve and PvP events.

I’ve played ESO on and off since 2016 and that game has run its course with me personally. Just feels stale for me, and I have been searching for something to fill the void. I have been watching quite a few content creators videos, like your great video, and I gotta say I am super excited for October 15th. Sure it sounds like there has been some let down for those who have been in the community since launch, but three years is very VERY young for an MMO. They could very easily turn it around, and for a console player like myself, it’s just brand new for us. The game looks beautiful, and there has been quite a bit of positive feedback out there too. So so SO EXCITED!! Can’t wait to start a new chapter in gaming! Thank you for the video!

I’m pushing 10k hours on this game, and I have to say, I’ve had more than my fair share of disappointments. But I also have to say; there is no other game like it.
I went on hiatus for a few months after the “June” announcement. I came back a few weeks ago, and I must say; IM EXCITED FOR AETERNUM.
I’m hoping that the “lock on” feature is strictly for PvE content; it will not fly in PvP. And IT alone will kill PvP in the game.

People should probably just look at the game like a rpg you can play with randoes that gets updated over the years and i think people would be fine with it, thats probably what ags was trying to convey with the rebrand

I've got 2k hours in OG new world, haven't played in months though cause i got bored and servers are dead. I don't think the pc stand alone servers will have much pop from what they have no going forward once crossplay comes on the 15th. SO i think personally im gonna give it another go on the fresh servers for farming/early game/pvp and HOPE AGS keeps content pumping out as the year proceeds and the population stays UP LOL

So.. you buy the game once with no subscription, yet on PS5 you NEED to have PS+ to be able to play online.. that's so double..

I have over 7000 hrs in new world. THIS GAME is PERFECT. buy THEY NEEEEEDDDDDD to REMOVED the lock on target... THAT WOULD ruin the best part of the game

the pvp in newworld is some of the best pvp ive had in an mmo in damn, idek ever? i fucking loved the pvp in this game so much, im talking about when im doing my questing/harvest runs and i see an enemy i go fuck them up, its soooo fun doing that

I'm tempted to return. When i was most invested in New World, i was having the time of my life, i've never had a progression and crafting system i've enjoyed so much in any game ever before and still haven't. But like many have already pointed out, the endgame grind and endgame content just got too tedious and boring for me. Secondly, i never fully felt like i found a place in the combat system. I wasn't invested enough in the combat/raid activites to run multiple gear sets, classes and weapons so i couldn't really switch effectively. I've gone through the crafting progression 3 times now and as much as i do want to give it another go, i'm not sure i have it in me to start fresh one more time.

WTH, video was going well until the end where i was pointed to go to starfield of all games. Terrible.

I'm so excited to finally play this new MMO! I've been waiting 3 or 4 years for this game to be ready for public consumption and its finally here! Can't wait!!! 😉😉😉

In all seriousness, this game never appealed to me in the past and the well documented history of bugs, content drouts and general incompleteness of the game were why. But for the first time ever, it seems like it may check all the boxes for me. I am a dad who only gets to play an hour or two late at night so i really am primarily a solo player. I'm not looking for a bunch of coordinated raid content or guild scheduling. Many people tell me "why don't you just play single player games then" but anyone who's played an MMO knows the vibe is just different. I love seeing other players online in a shared world, even if we're all just doing our own thing. And the size and scope of the world in this type of game is unmatched. Even a game like Elden Ring can't compete with the volume of activity in this kind of game.

So i am very excited about AGS seeming new focus on solo player viability, in an MMO world. I really hope this game can scratch the itch because I've been unable to find the right game to check all the boxes for me for a while now. Here's hoping to a successful relaunch 🤞🏼🤞🏼

reason i quit new world was coz of their dogshit engine which made duping possible every patch. and the response and how they handled game breaking bugs were horrible. our server had market place and trading disabled for 3 weeks straight. meanwhile there was a bug where certain mob was giving 3x amount of materials and they patched that over night. i really think devs are horrible and killed the game.
this game had lot of things going and had a huge passionate mmo players at launch and devs were tone deaf and their priorities were messed up and failed to capitalize on the hype at launch.

oh dont forget the botting in this game. at one point our server had like 2 bots for one normal person.

i really hope this time around it will be different.

If you're playing from SEA, this game is 100% NOT worth it because of ping diff. Dont make the same mistake

I’m playing Throne and Liberty right now on PS5 and if the game state of New World Aeternum is the same as that, I’ll buy it. The guild stuff is really fun but honestly I’m mainly a solo player in most times unless the game forces me to group up and I heard this game is solo friendly. I tried to get into BDO and while the combat is super fun, sadly I’m too far behind to enjoy the good stuff and it’s very pay to win. If I ever do buy it, I’ll eventually drop one mmo once I maxed everything. Hopefully it’s this one because I’ve played enough tap target mmos and need something different.

Is it less complex than T & L?

The main thing i dont like with the game is the npc levels. Played a lot of ESO where npcs and monsters scale to my level. Would love for something like this to be in New World

Could someone help me? I have New World and the DLC I am level 65. But I can’t even progress playing the single story line bc all these regular monsters are like level 70 and up. So now I’m automatically getting killed by a simple enemy. And I can’t get anymore XP or go past level up 65 bc that’s the max level. Will the new Aterenum fix that?

Just popped up on my feed and I watched this video. Gameplay seems quite boring and the character movement seems like a game from late 90s.

Played the beta of this and only for an hour or 2 due to work, wanted a good mmo on console for years and soon as I played it I couldn't wait for release. I tried throne and liberty, although I think thats really good, I prefer NWE alot more. Looking forward to jumping in!

I played at launch, and I really liked a whole lot of the game. I’ve been playing MMOs for close to 25 years now, and there were a lot of new ideas in this one. Most good, but a few inherently unstable core ideas that ruined the game play for me. I was not a fan of the constant factional pvp. Mea Culpa. I’m more of a 12 man raid type of guy. Still I figured I could just opt out. Maybe become the guy who gets rich selling weapons and stuff to the maniacs. LOL.

I realize that experience showed that different servers got very different results as far as the factional balance. But after about 100 hours I found myself getting angrier and angrier that the result of the constant factional fighting about %85 of the time on my server there where no high level crafting stations available - not just within my chosen town and faction, but IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. I wanted to do some crafting and found their systems very interesting, but I couldn’t because I’m on a server where all my contributions to a town are getting destroyed constantly. So all this potential, but one aspect of the game was just a cancer on another aspect of the game. So I quit and will never play a game like that again. It amounts to having very little freedom to decide how you will enjoy the game, so no wonder they have such trouble keeping players. Charitably, it’s just not for people like me who don’t want to spend most of their time running around ganking each other, and each other’s expensively developed community assets in varied sizes of cooperating groups. And that’s fine. Every game does not have to be for everyone. But the game will not work for anyone if a large enough subset get pissed off and leave.

Thats a funny concept. Copy paste the game and sell it again. Is Blizzard part of the publisherteam? EA? At least Konami has their hands in this ingenius concept. Anyone else wouldnt be this sane.

I own this on PC but my rig has been passed onto my Son now so I am looking at getting this for my Series X, I only played around 20 hours on PC 12 months ago, so might have to give it a go on Xbox.

First time playing this game as I don't have a pc and I can say im absolutely hooked
