Began watching this at 1.02pm today, 18.9.23. not realising a Yankee was playing Darcy, that I think is not appropriate, as the 1933-4 version, he was a true gentleman.

la version est belle beaucoup de passage ont été oublié mais le roman est là. Dommage que la traduction en français n'est pas très agréable à lire Mais j'adore ce roman alors j'oublie la traduction et je regarde surtout les sentiments sur les visages

I liked the movie, though I didn’t like Mr. Rochester, the actor is sooo old and unattractive at all. I more liked Mr. Rochester ( Timothy Dalton) a lot.. in other movie version.

They've kind of butchered the early part of the story... and in the book Charlotte Bronte makes it clear over and over that Jane is plain. No on would ever say Susannah York was plain. The scene where she meets Mr. Rochester takes place in cold weather in the book - the horse slips on the ice. It seems they've taken out a lot of what makes the book so dark and dramatic. It's a pity.

Actors don't fit the roles of Jane and Rochester. i've seen all adaptations and best one is 1983 but best Jane and Rochester are Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikovska. Ideal Jane Eyre would be if Mia and Michael played in 1983 version.

Je raffole du film Jane Eyre mais ne comprenant pas l'anglais, le sous-titrage français est incompréhensible. Dommage ! 😢

This beautiful film should be restored to HD. The final scene is one of the most poignant few minutes I've ever viewed on film. I miss Geo. C. Scott so much, his screen presence, his voice, his impeccable timing, are everything a dramatic actor could hope to offer an audience.

Ces anglo saxons....des brutes et des barbares auxquels le monde occidental est soumis depuis 2,5 siècles, en ayant anéanti leur propres cultures....il est temps que cela change non ? ??😊

She looks kind of old for playing a young governess

One of my most favorite movies, a love story i am most fascinated with, Susannah York n George C Scott put over excellent performance in their roles. My favorite one of all adaptations, it's a movie 2 relish n cherish always.

Of all the adaptions of Jane Eyre I have watched, this is one of my least favorite. Of course it's just personal taste, but I don't find that the leads have much chemistry. Other versions' Jane has more strength IMO. I also cringe when an obviously beautiful woman is called ugly in movies.

That movie has a little to do with the book. The main points are missed, actors don't match with the book characters. I couldn't watch the whole after seeing how it is portrayed differently from the book. The book is full of emotions and reasons

I have read the book several times. I watched many versions, I know there was a big age difference between Jane and Mr. Rochester, but I find Mr Rochester too old in this one. Otherwise it's very good.

I really think Susanna Yorke was not a good choice to play Jane Eyre. She looks like a 70s actress playing dress up. Not my favourite version of the great classic. But George C Scott is very good as Mr Rochester.
