A great mash up would be James Gang Funk #49 (verse melody) and Kenny Loggins Footloose (chorus melody). I would be surprised if it hasn't been done by now.

Adam, check out a west coast group of the 80s called 'Big Daddy.' They matched up 80s with the 50s. Example the lyrics of 'Welcome to the Jungle' to the melody of 'Lion sleeps tonight.' 'Like a Virgin' with 'Venus', or 'Money for Nothing' and '16 tons.' 'Star Wars theme' by Duane Eddy. Every playlist in the 50s had that dead teenage song, they turn 'The Living Years' into a death on a motorcycle. These guys were so talented.

I lived just outside of Memphis (in Mississippi) during this time, and was an avid Drake and Zeke listener. They were known for not playing the standard corporate-selected stuff on their morning show. They picked their own music to play, and they played a lot of Rock Sugar, and got a lot of folks to go to Memphis in May just to go support them. I didn't get to go to the concert weekend, but I remember the aftermath when 3 Doors Down didn't play and RS saved the day. Good stuff.

I used to do 867-5309/Jenny in a band, and I would play the Crazy Train riff between verse lines "Jenny, Jenny who can I turn to" or over the backup vocals during the chorus.
