ОтветитьDear Rebecca, could you explain the use of single quotation marks and normal ones, fairly common in older academic texts the use of single ones and they do express a useful distinction when normal ones feel too bulky. Best regards Chris

ОтветитьAll of these rules are more or less justified, besides rule number 10. I see no reason why to insist on this rule unless your goal is to be cocky.
A good sign of intelligence is to describe a complicated thing in a simple manner. How can one describe something in this way if there is an unwritten rule to overly complicate sentences in order to allow other colleges or whoever to cover up their lack of expertise?
