I have an indelible memory of hearing this song for the first time at a safe house in Afghanistan and I remember thinking which band is this. The year was 2003 and although QOTSA had been around for a while, I had not heard of them and it’s embarrassing because I’m from California not far from where Josh Homme hails from.
