Can you do a video on how you achieved this tone?
ОтветитьThey are amazing. Found them on chance at a live show and had my mind blown! AMAZING
ОтветитьCool! I would like for you to try their song Maria tambien.
Ответитьthey record in a barn outside of houston in an open pasture. they leave the barn door open (yes) and cows have actually made the cut... moo-ing in background.
Ответить"I've been aware of the half cocked waaah!!!" Have you ever heard Justice Der?
ОтветитьAlso, when is your next live show?ever make it out to La? maybe 2024?
ОтветитьI’m not convinced the guitarist isn’t just Rhett in a wig
ОтветитьThey’re talented but all their stuff sounds the same to me, tbh
ОтветитьVieux fakra Touré seems has same style
Ответитьok bro
ОтветитьHe is such a great guitar player
ОтветитьKhruangbin is Thai for “ airplane” and the pull-offs and trills are from the Thai music of Isan Mulan and Luk Thong. The Thai guitar is a Phin.
ОтветитьSaw these guys live in 2016 at a D.C. bar with a crowd of about 100 people. Was about 5 feet from the stage. I remember patting Mark on the back and telling him great job as he passed through the crowd after coming off stage. Awesome memory. Glad to see they ended up getting the success they deserve. Also their live version of "People Everywhere (Still Alive) (Live at Stubb's)" is an experience. Give it a listen, or 10.
ОтветитьI ve seen some of best guitarist live in my life, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisiel, Bireli Lagrene, Fripp but Mark could really stay on stage with them, his sound is perfectly cool and unique
ОтветитьTexas Sun is a fantastic song.
ОтветитьMark Speer is the guitarists standing in opposition to other rockers. He has only one guitar, one pick and he uses middle pickup mostly. Love their music.
ОтветитьThanks for doing this video. You explained it well. Mark Speer and the band is fabulous !!
ОтветитьI went on a date with a girl off a dating app last year. On the way home she was struggling to tell Siri to play music from this band. Fast forward later we listen to it at her place and more interesting than the date was the music… I never talked to her after that, but I’ve been listening to Khruangbin since.
ОтветитьThe "a" is silent.
ОтветитьWhat I like about Khruangbin is that every note played is necessary.
ОтветитьNeed a Tom misch episode man
ОтветитьYeessss man I’m so glad to see other guitarists who’ve just been enamored with Khruangbin. His melody lines are surprisingly simple, but in combination with the tone and those tasty bass lines it’s just so atmospheric. I also think they’re one of my favorite bands of all time. Great music
ОтветитьYou got a set of udders on your chest, bud.
ОтветитьHe said once he tries to stay away from the root when he plays
ОтветитьI came across them on npr. Blew my mind
ОтветитьI agree , thanks for turning me on to them . Love them , they have a great vibe and their grooves are hypnotic. A great trio, DJ keeps that beat so nice. Thanks again 👍🏽
ОтветитьYeah he’s bad ass!
ОтветитьI love Khruangbin they just have a way of pulling you in and transporting you some place else. Did Laura ever have her baby yet?
ОтветитьHe's really really good
ОтветитьI think Mark Speer is really QB Aaron Rodgers in disguise...
ОтветитьI’ve played guitar for years but being a progressional oboists, I’ve never really gotten into the world of electric sound design until recently. One thing I love about electric guitar is that you can use feedback and reverb to layer your sound with high pitched harmonics that really feel like wrangling the sound of an oboe. Mark Speer utilizes this sounds so well and is a huge inspiration to me and what I want my guitar to sound like.
Ответитьlove the band Khruangbin. Love this video.
ОтветитьListen to Arc de Soleil. It's apparently a collaboration that makes royalty free music. I can't find any credits, but the guitarist on there HAS TO BE Mark Speer.
ОтветитьHe uses flatwounds on his Stratocaster guitar. He purchases a heavy set of 12 16 24 32 42 52.DA chromes. He then moves them all down one, and adds a 10 plain string on top,, (high e.), so now it is 10 12 16 24 32 42. Omits the low 52 E, and now has a light set of 10 to 42 D"Addario chrome flatwound strings on his Stratocaster which is another it adds to those wonderful tones he achieves. Mark casn now bend his plain (g string) .It is a 16 plain steel "g" string.
ОтветитьMark Speer is one of my all time favorites too. I saw Khruangbin live in Chicago 2022 and took a bunch of shr**ms and it was so sick I even can't tell you
ОтветитьMark Speer is great! But you know that Hank Marvin of The Shadows(Apache)did this type of style in the late 1950's and then Peter Green in 69 and later on in the early 80's.(Instrumental songs with lots of reverb)But hey im really glad that Mark is getting this kind of style of music out to a new generation that probably never heard The Shadows or Peter Green before.
ОтветитьGreat video, just what I was looking for. Subbed
ОтветитьGreat video, great band, but so strange no one mentions Surf Guitar. Please check out Croatia band The Bambi Molesters, yes more surf, but oh so good. Cheers everyone!
ОтветитьSweet lil psychedelic vibe Rhett, yes!!!! Great example of not thinking it too hard with every single song from Khruangbin... awesome video as always!
ОтветитьHe's got a great tone and smooth hands. The drummer and girl rule too. The drummer is definitely the one keeping it together. It can be one of the bedr background musics ever. Reminds me of how LCD Soundystem made me feel (background music). Both can quickly become boring for me. All songs too similar. But it's background music, and one of the best kind imo.
ОтветитьWhat’s with the lens distortion?
ОтветитьKhruangbin is for me the best Band in this world!
ОтветитьKhruangbin is actually incredible live. Also do some push ups
Ответитьi met Mark and Laura in curitiba, we smoked together lol , the guy is awesome genius and minimalist
ОтветитьJust keep it in yourself, he uses cheap gears unlike you who have ton of expensive gear.
ОтветитьFirst hit my radar when I saw Mark in a YT thumbnail from KEXP and his haircut with huge bangs, couldn't see his eyes from the overhead stage lights casting shadows. So I was like wtf and checked it out if he's real. Listened to Evan 3rd room live KEXP and was like, this song is about nothing but its hypnotizing!...and the rhythm was so different in a good way. Then I watched some more live videos and these huge live medley covers they do are so awesome. Yup now a fan of this talent oozing band.
ОтветитьGenre: Pulp Fiction
ОтветитьIt's the grateful dead of today
ОтветитьI almost wrote them off as "boring" but its not an easy listen. Listen to a live performance and album versions and there is A LOT more to Khruangbin than you think. It takes you somewhere new but yet old, a sound that no one seems to touch on. 60s surf, 70s disco, spring reverb all over the place and you have something completely almost original. He uses the Strymon El Capistan and a Boss DS1 set to boost and an MXR Compressor. Thats really it. And he finally puts a 70s Strat on the map, no 50s or 60s Strat that is so revered. It makes you look at a Strat a whole new way, no Clapton, SRV, or Yngwie or Blackmore.
ОтветитьKhruangbin leave me cold, not sure what it is. They’re all very good players, but fairly nondescript. And unfortunately a near total lack of songwriting chops making all the songs sound the same.
