Jordan’s Self Authoring Applications effectiveness is not valid If you read the research he promotes

In the research HE DID called Setting, Elaborating, and Reflecting on Personal Goals Improves Academic Performance, he showed no statistically significant improvement, The control and experiment group stated with only a 2.3 GPA and the control group improved to 2.4, and his group improved only to 2.9. A .5 GPA at such low performance is not good proof because it is only a 6% improvement.

In the research HE DID called A scalable goal-setting intervention closes both the gender and ethnic minority achievement gap, this research showed no improvement of performance and it showed possible disparate impact discrimination regarding student applicants, because students quit the applications for schools. The report stated

“We do strongly believe, however, that the probability of students participating in the intervention and completing it was increased by the fact that it was a required component of the first-year curriculum itself, complete with deadlines. The goal-setting intervention, although not particularly time-consuming, can be sufficiently demanding to potentially dissuade students—particularly those who are likely to perform poorly—from completing it as a mere extracurricular activity.

And the final research HE DID called Using Future Authoring to Improve Student Outcomes showed even worse results regarding ant improvement of students performance. Here is the results

The average first-term GPA for the treatment and control group students is 73.1 and 71.3, respectively. The difference between the GPAs is only around 1.8 grade points (2.6% difference), which is fairly small on a 100-point scale. Average first-term GPA is around 68.2 and 71.2 in the control and treatment groups for males (3 grade point difference or 4.4% difference), whereas for females, the average first-term GPAs in the control and treatment groups are 74.2 and 74.9.

So Jordan is trying to oversell his actual performance?

I just bought the self authoring suite. I hate the little boxes you are expected to write into. Are we at the end of the process able to see all our writing out on a page? I don't like how you write into the box and it all falls off the end of the cliff. How can we ever see it adding up to more than a hill of beans?

This video is excellent! Great presentation & organization. Thought the "* not me " images were funny. 😆 But more importantly thank you for the insights only experience can teach for how one might approach these exercises.

By the way, I would have never thought you were German until you mentioned it. You're English is great! The German accent is one I find particularly interesting & have practiced for some DnD games I've played in the past.

How do you get the results of your writings? Do they give you a score or a diagnosis? Can you download a copy of your writings? Does someone from JP's staff analyze what you've written and give you their feedback? If so, how long does it take for them to reach out to you? Since everything you write is personal, do they protect your privacy? Are your writings kept anonymous? Once you write something about yourself on their website, I guess it stays up there forever. This might cause someone to hold back on what they really want to write. Do they send you promotional email?

Does it help actively in any way, instead of "revealing" things within yourself ? Or is it just helping you to discover yourself by allowing you to express yourself in words? Like advice or guide lines maybe ?

I’m 27(male).
I decided to buy the program on a whim, because I wanted to work on myself through writing.
Everything started off great until I started to detail my past experiences.
I went from feeling normal to breaking down and crying unexpectedly as I continued to type more.
I wasn’t expecting that reaction from me, but once I stopped crying I felt a lot better.

Two questions: 1) how does the forms where you actually write looks like e.g. do they look like some carefully compartmentalised questionnaire where you fill in answers for each important part of your life or do the forms only present one or few large text typing section where you write about yourself in an essay like format? 2) do any human analyse your answers and give you feedback or help you figure our answers for yourself or is it self analysis exercise and you analyse your answers in the end by yourself?

My name is Dr Getu Mindaye author of the book “female Genital mutilations the story of Kedra “ Xlibris was my publisher but what they did to me was awful. I spent $60k because I thought they were telling me the truth but was not. Xlibris ask me $12k for my book to be physically in a book store but that never happened. And they told me that I can not get any money from the sale of my book unless I have Bank account in the UK, but they know from the beginning that I am a US citizen and I made all the payment in US dollar. Two weeks ago One of xlibris finance department came up with the silly solution which is that if I have friend or family with bank account in uk they would deposit my money from the sale of my book into that person’s account for that person to give me my payment. You are deeply dull and so keep talking of your life. Maybe you can review a car and then you can talk more about your dull, uninteresting life. I’m South African. As a uni student $30 is worth a lot more in terms of the ratio between the value of food and goods. I wish more companies would take steam’s approach with regional pricing. That being said the program is still just slightly more expensive than a single therapy session.

Honestly I cant get through the suite. I've never been able to sit down and write for a long time, especially when some of that stuff is emotionally heavy for me. So any suggestions how one can get through it? Is it by forcing myself to get through it or can I leave it alone for a long time and come back to it later?
