Sorry if it was posted somewhere, but what was the brand and model of the rifle used? I saw the Vortex scope.
Great video as usual!
Not the largest national forest in lower 48!
ОтветитьYa what about mule deer??
ОтветитьJoin touris australian Nothing maps Hunting
ОтветитьI love the Gila.
ОтветитьReeve Stinella.
ОтветитьI'm a Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache from that area, but in 1886 my people were sent to prison in Florida, Alabama, and finally Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. 27 years they were POWs, my late grandmother Evelyn Martine was the last Chiricahua Apache born in captivity in 1912 and in 1913 they were officially released from POW status, many moved back to NM to live on the Mescalero Apache reservation. My great great great grandfather's were Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache chief's Victorio, Mangas Coloradas and Loco.
ОтветитьLove your shows. Pretty much watch everyone I can get my hands on But my question is, what’s been the hardest and the most dangerous hunts you’ve had.
Ответитьwow you kill an animal enjoying its natural habitat and it makes you feel better about yourself you're a true warrior!!
ОтветитьI grew up in all that Pubkic land and used to think every other state was the same. Pretty sad that many states are pretty much 100% private land and if you can't afford land well your sharing a small area with everyone.
New Mexico is going the same way. All the areas of wilderness I hunted now has Condos and big western mansions where herds of elk, deer, bear, cougar, coyote were wild...now there is lawn maintenance.
Human nature is fallible, great hunt...man.
Ответитьthis is great. a hunt that is not a 'success'. makes the rest of us mere mortals feel ok.
ОтветитьWhat calibers do you use for elk, and deer ?
ОтветитьEveryone misses now and then. But you are Steve Rinella! I've never seen you miss! Oh well, everyone misses now and again. Thanks for all the hunting vids Steve. They always make my day.
ОтветитьDon’t know how many times I passed on deer early in the season only because I wanted to hunt more
ОтветитьThat’s amazing getting a elk is the bonus . What a great country you have
ОтветитьWhat brand/model is that multicam ruck? What pack sacks do you use?
Ответитьnot a huge hike to get there just like 4 miles lol i would be dying
ОтветитьWhat unit division in 16? 16a?
ОтветитьI can’t imagine being able to hunt elk with spot and stalk . We have next to no visibility. If they didn’t talk we would never see them . We kill elk every year but it’s very challenging
ОтветитьThis is all photoshop New Mexico is a bad place to hunt fish and outdoorsman ship in general stay away
ОтветитьHe always needs to "EARN" his quarry, then he misses an animal the size of an elk.
Take your opportunity when presented,
make your shots count.
Drama
I keep going back to these old episodes. These honest mistakes are what i gain the most info from. The new stuff is great, but it's planned out. Scheduled. Just go do it is a lot easier when you dont have mouths to feed. Keep on it Steve.
ОтветитьToo much talking.
ОтветитьDrawing a decent tag after only four years IS a hella short time to wait. WTF you talking about?
Ответить"Gps waypoints and some tips but im going in blind"... Massive fan of steve and the show but that is very far from truly going in blind. Hopping in your truck and driving to a foreign area youve never seen even on a map and hiking in and hunting is going in blind. Lmao just nitpicking tbh
ОтветитьThat one hurts. An opportunity will come again.
ОтветитьLove your shows and podcasts! Always informative entertaining, i do have a suggestion though! I’m one of those people that never used hearing protection for many years so I do have trouble hearing what you and your guests are saying because of the loud background music! My hearing is drawn to the background music over what you are saying. Is there any way possible to take it/music down a notch or two to allow us old timers to experience the whole hunt in it’s entirety! There is no music out in the wild and if there is we’d be hunting in the wrong place lol.
Keep up the great shows and blogs!!!
Im a 40 year elk hunter im a bow hunter so. But i done well and the best meat i love a bull mouse but but me and elk i cry over every elk ive taken but i still hunt
ОтветитьIt made me so mad when he said... I've been putting on this tag for 4 years and finally drew it. lol Get the crap out here man. 4 years for a tag you want is NOTHING
ОтветитьMy grandfather had a ranch over there. The Gila Cliff Dwellings were on his ranch, and also lake Roberts. It was a big ranch. Deer and elk everywhere.
ОтветитьU have to draw a lottery to hunt public land smh sickening
ОтветитьCan’t believe he left that shed
ОтветитьI’m just curious, how would he have gotten that “freezer full of meat” home if he bagged one? They are anywhere from 700-1100 pounds. That would be multiple trips over many many miles of rugged country. Not to mention scavengers and/or warm weather getting to the meat before you could pack it out. I’m all for hunting, believe me. But I’m not about trophy or hunting strictly for sport…. If I’m gonna kill it, I’m gonna eat it. One of the reasons I like/respect Steve. I’m really just wanting to understand the logistics of getting the meat home. In case I ever get an opportunity to go elk hunting.
Ответить4 years man you are lucky
ОтветитьNice to know a pro can miss
ОтветитьIt happens, I was on point to 800 yds at the range. Then flinched or jerked on a once on a lifetime oryx hunt in NM at 430. Should have been an easy shot. But you can never account for that excitement when an animal is in your scope. Makes you stupid, all your breathing, squeezing, it all goes out the window when you get excited.
ОтветитьWas that bull a half mile away??????????
WHAT?????????
I’m always in the mountains by myself, doing activities and exploring. Sometimes it’s a real lonely grind lol. I appreciate your deep and sincere connection with these places and animals. It reminds me that there are like-minded people that are more than happy to just experience this great land. These episodes and your podcast mean a lot to me, thank you🙂
ОтветитьThe fakest episode was hunting wild pig or boar whatever you call it, in northern central California when he kills a staged pig boar? And a quail for lunch so yes that’s when I said oh man these are the same producers from “storage wars”
ОтветитьHe chose elk because tastes the best out of any wild game. He isn’t fooling anyone
ОтветитьI'm glad I'm not the only one that misses occasionally.
ОтветитьIs it heavier to carry a stove, gas, and cooking water with freeze-dried food, or just regular MREs?
ОтветитьWhen ya say small 6 piont. Seems massive if from nz
ОтветитьThanx steve. Looks harsh yet buetifull country
ОтветитьThat area of the US is such beautiful country. Cant wait to live, hunt, and fish in Southern Colorado in the near future =) Looks very similar to this area of NM. Mix of trees and rock formations. Very cool stuff.
ОтветитьIt’s been 30 years since I drove through NM at night, it grave me a creepy feeling. I would love to hunt it through!
ОтветитьThat's how you've handled most of your sexual encounters lol Jonathan Nelson
