"D&D 2024 Core Rulebooks POINTLESS?"
> You can bet. It's a safe bet.
tbh with the rework phb and such alot of changes would work well as optional rules. instead of redoing things from the ground up
ОтветитьI feel that CR is heading down a dark path...Every one of the characters has a ticking time bomb about them...I thought the lore dump as you call it, is important to the campaign going forward. Anyone who dismissed it maybe lost in the story. Matt is the master weaver and we will get blown away about the story!
Ответитьliterally just should have made a new edition or make not terrible and instead make good more thoughtful dnd books
ОтветитьBoo wheel of time tv show! boo!
ОтветитьI think it's pointless. They should have focused on a new Monster Manual that fixed CR or gave us a new system to replace CR and redid the Dungeon Masters Guide so that it's easier to find things and write non combat encounters. (Apparently they are working on an entirely new system that will replace CR. I'm guessing it will be in the Monster Manual for the stats, but I'm not 100 percent sure.)
Ответитьwha! I liked the books and I like the tv show as well! Different is better than nothing at all!
ОтветитьI like Ashton’s origin story
Ответитьthe favorite part was abour Clank!
who still gives a fu*k about WotC?
Another aspect to consider about 2024 d&d rolling back all the experimental changes could be the popularity of BG3. It has caused a lot of people to gain interest in playing the actual game. They cant up and change how 5e works too much and confuse their new audience
ОтветитьWell, at least still calling it 5th edition increasingly makes sense. Whatever, I'm done with it, anyway.
ОтветитьRule books are more like guidelines, everything falls to the DM to decide what's what
ОтветитьMany TTRPGs have very marginal edition update and the revised edition concept is getting very popular in the industry (Traveller, Pathfinder 2e, Fantasy Age, etc.) so a revised D&D player handbook is in line with the industry current trend which basically takes advantages that most books are produced in run and that it is not a crazy idea to update the book in between run. However, one can debate the benefit for the players.
I think the shared spell list was not going in the right direction, there was so many exception based on the spell school that it actually made it harder to navigate for new players then the previous spell list system. The shared spell list only work if they substantially changes the hybrid caster (Bard, Paladin, Ranger) as to allow them to use the new spell list as is which is not what they wanted as their design goals (ex.: making the bardiest bard).
As for celebrating D&D 50th anniversary, the best way of doing that is to probably introduce one or more new classes or re-introduce older classes (psionic). That would make a lot of people very happy to go buy a revised version of their current books.
I also have to say that the changes to races and background shouldn't be downplayed. While mechanically neutral, I think that moving away from the original edition bio-essentialism is an important milestone for the game and the hobby.
As much as I am pissed at hasbro / wotc I have to say something.
Every single one of these books are guidelines. Take what you want, leave the rest.
Here’s the thing:
The biggest problem with the D&D classes themselves is that the Monk is bad, and the martial caster divide exists.
They’re definitely not going to fix the martial caster divide with their philosophy of “We’re making the best version of the class for people who already enjoy playing that class most” because anybody that cares about the martial caster divide is just gonna play a caster.
And this far they haven’t fixed the monk though there’s still hope on that front.
The main problem I have has to do with the lack of DM support and the complete nonsense that is Challenge Rating, so really it’s hard to say whether the next core rulebooks will be worth anything until we see some inkling of the DMG and Monster Manual.
5e is such a bland train wreck. Honestly baffles me why so many insist of playing it
ОтветитьHonestly I don't care anymore about D&D One/5.5e. I'm using 5e and homebrewing anything I want to revise or update. Easier that way.
ОтветитьI’m afraid I’ve gotten so bored of the campaign I’ve missed the last three episodes. I think I might go back to it soon though. This seems interesting.
ОтветитьThe 2024 books are like the original 5e so why buy them?
ОтветитьWotC is going to turn a milestone year for D&D into kind if an "eh" year for them.
ОтветитьAll my excitement with OneDnD died when they released UA Playtest 6, it's just too cowardly for them to refuse to change things in the game and decide to stick with the old version instead of doing a better job, a new game that repeats all the design flaws of the its predecessor is not a game i I want to spend my money and my time, I want a better game not the same shit
ОтветитьDo you FINALLY feel like you have some inkling of Ashton's Origin...and are there enough new changes and features to even warrant a 2024 D&D Core Rulebook?!
