How did the prophet become blind

I've watched this animatic before but without captions so I decided to rewatch it and turned on the captions and I just realized that THEY'RE CHANTING THE WHOLE THUNDER SAGA AT THE BACK? it's such a cool addition and I never noticed this before

Does anyone spot the difference between the odyssey and the epic musical regarding the prophet? in the odyssey the prophet tells Odysseus that he will be able to return to Ithaca if he does not touch the cows present on the island of the sun hence the verse "there is a world where I help you get home" and the verse "but that's not the world I know" refers to the epic where the mutiny happens just before arriving on the island of the sun and where Odysseus is tied up and therefore is no longer the master of his crew and cannot prevent his crew to kill the sacred cows

I love this song more & more because the past romance is the fading memories of Penelope & his time with her.

The sacrifice could he the soldiers lost in war, Polites' death at the hands of the cyclops, the infant Odysseus drops from the wall, or hell even Odysseus himself being in battle when he didn't want to go.
The betrayal could have been Eurylochus opening the wind bag after Odysseus fought his sleep for 9 days to guard it or the fact that he even had to guard it from his men. The final stand was aginst the cyclops. Brink of death could have been literally any time as they were at war, faced the cyclops, Circe, & Poseidon & that final breath could also be the last breath before luck runs out as his men cautioned.

BUT these line repeat almost like a telling of things to come because the past romance is the patience to wait on Penelope is running thin, the sacrifice is the 6 men to Scylla, the betrayal again to Scylla but Odysseus has Eurydichus choose who got the torches but remember its Eurydichus who opened the bag and cost them 500 men after all that time Odysseus spent protecting the wind. The final stand could be Eurydichus also finally giving in to his hunger, hes tired and there are cows to eat so why not eat them? They wont make it home anyway and even less of a chance if they starve. Hunger is so heavy and jes just a man, this is the hill he's dying on. The final breath before Odysseus makes his choice to damn his entire remaining crew. He has to get home. He hates that it's this way, but hes given so much for his wife & son. Its so depressing.

These thoughts are not refined at all & i've officially been in the fandom for only a day but I've been singing "Get In The Water" since spring this year so i wanted to share something to the discussion ls.

The depiction of tiresias being androgynous is a nice reference to him having lived both as man and woman for a few years

Is no one ganna talk about how in the closed captions it spoils the rest of Odysseus’s journey? The cc says siren song, Scylla throat, mutiny, lightning bolt, whirlpool, Poseidon, and kill all suitors for love.

This might be a hot take, but I don't think the final choir chants are "Odysseus" twice. The second one I believe says Odysseus, but the first sounds closer to au - ee - ehh- muus. Which sounds closer to:
PO-LY-PHE-MUS
Maybe in reference to Polyphemus being the first monster of the story and Odysseus being the last?

I didn't understand the chorus at the end, but god damn, with the subtitles this final part is freaking scary! So he knew what was going to happen all along... oh shit O.O

The funny thing I like about this is that Ody pretty much sat there confused while also not understanding the prophet's words, and Tiresius was probably done with this man and went, "Lemme paint you a picture." and I caught that he did answer Ody's question when he asked who was with his wife.
