HEIMAT installation 2009.mov

The installation is a collection of images of PEOPLE, PLACES, and OBJECTS, as well as traditional "Trachten" -- German costumes, connected by a red thread. All are used as a way to visually define HEIMAT, in this case for German-speaking immigrants. In addition to the images, there are areas that invite viewer participation -- sharing stories, writing with a feather pen, and blackboards for answering specific questions about your personal understanding of HEIMAT. German music and videos share the space.
