A few years ago I calculated the amount of generation capacity needed to replace all road use of fossil fuel in Canada with electric energy supplied to electric vehicles. The calculation isn't hard. It starts with publicly reported annual road use of fuel. I got 60 GW. And estimated this to be 20 nuclear reactors. And in discussion with Americans I would point out that most such comparisons follow a 1 to 10 relationship between the two countries. Hence 200 reactors in the US. It's a coincidence that I was exactly equal to the number called out by the Secretary of Energy. But its not a coincidence that I had the correct order of magnitude, because its not a difficult thing to estimate. Yet it is not a number that any politician or beuraucrat was willing to say out loud. It's nice to see politicians finally shake the cob webs out of their heads. But holy cow... what a ridiculous path they took to get there.

Nuclear can be built the entire energy infrastructure is still built for O&G production. NatGas will be the biggest winner short to midterm.

In regard to your political commentary, maybe it's just hopeful thinking but I believe the supreme court will put an end to the nonsense now that it has gotten to this point. If they don't you're correct it will get out of control and our entire judicial system will be a laughing stock for the world to see. And I'm not a MAGA guy, it's just obvious what's going on here.

They do all lie but there is a big difference with trump lying: He denies losing the last election (and still does DESPITE 60 plus courts across the land finding no merit to his best arguments) and encouraged his followers to get violent on Jan 6th. No other president has EVER done that. Lastly, trumps conviction was an easy win for the prosecution...overwhelming evidence...their only hope was getting a renegade Jurist to create a hung jury situation. But, this jury heard the evidence and quickly convicted him on ALL 34 counts...and you still think it was a sham. SAD.

The inroads Trump is making into the traditional minority electorate is exactly why the party of Biden choses to allow unfetterd illegal immigration... to completely replace those once dependable minority voters with a voting base that is totally dependent on their democrat masters for their survival. The reason they are allowing so many illegal foreign men of fighting age into the country is much more sinister... when the political war turns red hot these "new" americans will have no qualms about following their master's orders to turn their guns on the old. Letter to Sec Granholm: your NRC (Jaczko) & party have decimated the industrial base needed for any nuclear builds in U.S. for decades. (Many of your party leaders claim to fame came at anti-nuke rallies.) Just look at the disaster of V.C. Summer expansion. Not only is the industrial base gone, the necessary skilled trades aren’t there either. You demonized us nukes for years (we were spit on & songs written about our greed & degeneracy (Future So Bright…)). At Ga Tech, when engineering majors selected their branch of engineering no one wanted to be a nuke-so the worst performers were shoe-horned into that discipline (yes, that’s changed somewhat in recent years). All the top nukes go to support navy & other options & (again) the worst performers get picked up by the utilities. So no, move on & keep spending billions pulling CO2 out of atm (direct air capture) & CCS; rest-of-world has the nuke baton now.

Your Podcast is interesting and verifies my positions. But I do learn a thing or two. Even if President Trump wins reelection he is in a near impossible situation. He is a likeable good person at heart. My opinion is when you think he is lying it is mostly rhetoric. Is he perfectly honest of course not. But 50% are on your side. I do think the USA would be better off if he was elected. Thank you for your efforts.
