I’ve visited NYC twice but Upstate looks so beautiful that I regret not exploring a bit upstate the second time I visited. If I end up visiting a third time, I should definitely take a train upstate but first, see a broadway show.

Such an underrated part of the country

I was born+raised in California, but I spent summers at sleepaway camp in Hancock & 3 full years as a Brighton High student in the 'Rust Belt' of Upstate NY. Some of the most meaningful years of my teenage life were shaped by the grace & dignity of this beautiful community! No other place in the world invests as much money in education than NY state, and I was accepted into the Ivy League at 17 years old simply because NY state believed in my potential wholeheartedly! I feel more for Upstate than I feel for most of my own blood relatives, as it provided me with as close to a fairy tale upbringing as "Anne of Green Gables"! It will be my honor to eventually retire in Upstate, and to invest my tax dollars in support of NY's kids with the same bright potential that I was provided! No matter where I go, Upstate is always & forever my home❤

That’s what I’ve said, New York is a pretty big STATE. So many of us end up living in the 5 boroughs and never go up. So this other New York remains a secret.

I’ve been living in queens my whole life. The only other places I went to in New York are the city, the bronx, and Brooklyn. I never realized how much green and nature there is in our state since I had no idea places like this still existed in our state.
