its not even sephora anymore, its everywhere in any store
i work in a store that sell cutesty stuff, and the amount of little girls coming in with the biggest bills and worst personalities has me ripping my hair out💀
When I was 10 I was more into cheap Claire's earrings. Or beanie babies. Not beauty kits (and still am not into beauty kits at age 34). I also was not given my own phone as young as kids are getting cell phones and tablets nowadays. Now when I got my first cell phone at age 13. I had to work for it. It wasn't free.
ОтветитьIT TOOK LITERALLY 5 MINUTES FOR ANY CONTENT SPREAD IT OUT OR IMA JUST LEAVE
Ответитьat max, they need something to wash their face with and a moisturizer/SPF because everyone needs clean, moisturized, and protected skin. I literally used dove soap on my face til I was like 30 LOL
ОтветитьI’m 28 and I’m scared of spending more than 30$ of my own money and don’t even understand the science of anti-aging skincare omg… and yes I’m also scared of AI and the future generations
ОтветитьLuckily, we don’t have Sephora in my country❤
ОтветитьI was never a kid (or adult) who had any interest in makeup, skincare etc, I just wanted to be out at the stables or on a horse. I’m 46 now, have only ever wore very simple makeup for nights out or other big events. For the last 5 years I haven’t worn any make up because last time a stray flake fell in my eye and caused a massive ulcer on my already very damaged cornea and well bad things, I just can’t risk losing even more of my already poor eyesight. I now have a simple ‘skincare’ routine with a nutragina face wash and a simple moisturiser on my face and then a Vaseline brand coconut body moisturiser. (All these things are now very important (or for some things limited) due to me serious life limiting medical conditions (yes plural life limiting, I have a betting pool on which one will get me first 😂).
My two daughters aged 19 and 16 are not very into makeup up, my eldest does have a simple skin care routine and looks after her skin in a very age appropriate way, she had to build this due to having acne from form about 12. My youngest daughter is frustratingly bad at skin care, she has fairly bad acne as well but I can’t even get her to use the doctor prescribed medication consistently. She reminds me of me but then I rarely even had spots as a teen so I can’t know if I would have behaved similarly!
So while my kids are on social media but I didn’t allow them until they were 13 and neither has grown up spending that much time on the apps. Honestly I just think I got lucky with my kids personality when it came to managing these things, I certainly don’t have some secret to bringing up social media balanced kids lol!😂
Before I go on any rantish comments about kids & makeup, I just want to say you always look really pretty but while talking about the scents, you had on no makeup & looked fantastic! Back to the subject at hand, NO 10 year old needs to even be thinking of makeup! Maybe by 13 - some but not full face. I hate seeing kids made up to look like grown women. This is all fed by the media. I'm glad I have no pre-teens or even teens at home anymore. It's all I can do to just let my grand daughters go with some of the trends. My generation did EVERY POSSIBLE eyeliner designs so if they do theirs well, I'm all for it. The youngest is 14 now & I saw her with full face plus eyelashes at Christmas. Looked like a Pro did her makeup. If her parents are good with it & they are, I'm just going to enjoy how pretty she looks. She's not 10! She's not shopping super expensive stores either. ALL Sephora stores need a clearly defined age limit sign on their doors that also state parents are responsible for ALL COSTS due to damage of products to purchases. Simple. They welcome customers in so they can welcome some to leave too.
ОтветитьThis is how you can get a criminal record before age of 18 in my country if you get caught by the police. No mercy.
ОтветитьHolly Bourne has an interesting YA "dystopia" that extrapolates this exact issue!
ОтветитьThis is what gets me. I work in a store. A daughter and father came to the checkout. The daughter was probably 9, 10 years old. Wanting to buy foundation. It wasn’t anything fancy by any means. And I hear the dad say
“You are 10 years old your skin is perfect you don’t need this makeup”
And im thinking
“Then why are you buying it??”
innacurate, whatever gen came after mellinial is the first gen to have social media raise them.
Ответитьsooooooo 10 year olds ruin video games and make up stores. . . parents handle your kids please
ОтветитьOh my goooosh I LOVE how your hair looks in that lilac color!
(How do you look so good all the time anyway? :D)
This shit is exactly why I make my own skin and hair care products! I love you swoop keep doing your thing!!!
ОтветитьBOZE please stop calling out random names and including the name Christina, I’m starting to feel my trauma responses activate. 😂
ОтветитьImagine the money that businesses put into marketing for children actually going towards education. Just a thought. 🤦♀️
ОтветитьI had a nine-year-old patient ask me what my skin care routine was the other day. I have never in my life experienced that before. I politely told her that she’s beautiful and does not need to worry about that. I just use Cetaphil and the rest is all marketing. I’m a single mom to an almost 11 month old son, and I am prepared for struggles of his own, but the pressure on mom’s of daughters - my heart goes out to them.
ОтветитьThe “literacy problem” is actually because the public school system keeps wanting to push kids to learn to read at a younger and younger age and really our brains are not ready for that until about the age of 6/7. 4 year olds should not be learning to read.
ОтветитьJust out of curiosity. Doesn't anyone know if this is happening for example in europe or is it just us?
ОтветитьWait... THAT'S why every Sephora tester looks like crap??? For context: I don't have Sephora in my country, and this year I've come and saw all the Sephora testers that looked... different than I knew them.
Ответитьwhen i was around 12 my aunts basically forced me to go to ulta to buy make up and expensive skincare products… never used any of the makeup except for like, when i was going to an event. im 20 now and never wear makeup, still have the old stuff they bought me💀
ОтветитьWomen are starting to embrace aging so they are going after the younger ones to keep the need for product. A good comparison is looking at how coffee was introduced to Japan by Nestle, first, it was coffee-flavoured candies to give them a taste, then the adults started to enjoy the flavour and now it's easy to sell in that market. It's grooming the future consumer to create demand and re-engaging existing clients by having them participate in the act of consumerism with their kids.
ОтветитьNot to be one of those old guys who talk about "back in my day" really, it wasn't that long ago. When I was 10 and found the internet, first dialup tones in 1992! It was for real entertainment. Education. Learning and seeing things never seen before or able to be seen without the internet. The internet today is a giant cesspool of advertising venues.
ОтветитьI wonder how much of this fear of aging is unhealed trauma from the still ongoing trauma of Covid.
ОтветитьTHis is my new favorite SHOW! YOU"RE HILARIOUS!
ОтветитьSimply put there just aren't enough spaces for children anymore, growing up there were websites, mmo's entire mediums for young children to interact with each other and have a usually safe space to do so, those have been steadily disappearing for years. couple that with the clear parental neglect and this was bound to happen as a social issue and only get worse from here if no one does anything. ALso business should not be able to legally market to children that's just inherently predatory
ОтветитьYou know that guy that makes what i call the "DUH!" videos? His funny takes on ppl having problems thinking of the easiest way to do things like rolling down a car window to release the hair they got stuck? I feel like that about this situation with Sephora and the destroyed displays and products. Heres your sign ...no a literal sign that says ppl under a certain age not allowed into or to roam while in the store without a adult.
ОтветитьEnty lawyer of CDAN has been exposed as John Nelson abuser and grifter 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
ОтветитьI’ve also seen people contribute it partly to the loss of third places. Whether preteens and teens were pushed out by dirty looks and condescending comments from adults, or just the closure of places. The pandemic certainly didn’t help with closures. I see whole shopping strips where kids might have hung out empty. There’s about 3 malls within a decent driving distance from me. One is attached to a hotel and more in the touristy area of town, so it’s doing better. The one I hung out at in middle and high school is doing ok, but you can definitely tell there aren’t as many people going. The third one is practically dead. There’s nearly nothing there outside the food court, a handful of shops, and the movie theater on the 2nd floor. Sometimes it seems like teens aren’t allowed to be teens anymore. I mean, my best friend and I will laugh and be like “oh crazy kids” or “how are they here alone? They’re like 7” but we remember what it was like.
ОтветитьI’m so lucky that my mom hated her skin as a kid. She tried to burn her freckles off and only realized the damage when she had me. So she put a lot of emphasis on taking care of my skin and protecting myself with things like soap and water after exercising, sunscreen, hats on sunny days, etc. I’m 31 now and still only wear ANY makeup on certain days. It’s nice.
ОтветитьHopefully someone from your team will fill you in on how problematic Radiant Britt is — victim blaming, ignorantly spreading misinformation, tr@ns phobic videos still on her channel with a good bit of internalized misogyny thrown in , etc. Not a good look 😬
ОтветитьMeanwhile when I was 10 I was going door to door raising money for st Jude and aspca since those were the commercials I would see…
So sad these days how kids are growing up 😢
What happened to lemonade stands?? Kids don’t know the value of a dollar these days at all
ОтветитьWhen i was 10 (im barely turning 15 next month) I was playing roblox with my little brother 😭😭 now im 14 and i STILL play roblox with my little brother who is 12
ОтветитьSephora could capitalize on this ... TODAY. Make a Jr store with more experiences for kids. Of course cheaper lighter products for kids. Kids don't go to Claire's anymore. It looks way too cheap and kid like these days and kids don't want to be kids anymore.
ОтветитьI love the purple hair
ОтветитьNgl this actually irks me a bit cause why aren’t kids being kids anymore..?? Next thing you know everything adults are doing are going to be normalized for children and soon we won’t be able to tell the difference
Ответитьhow come your title is exactly the same as Funky Frogbait's?
ОтветитьI will say that my thoughts on this is that generally the whole generation is not that bad. Technology is changing, kids are changing there's no running away from that. Every 20+yo look at kids and say "damn these are doomed" when in reality they're not, they're still kids and most of them will grow out of that just like we did. It's just the changes are too rapid for us to create new guidelines just like I personally had unrestricted access to internet which I'm not really upset about.
ОтветитьWatching this unlocked some memories. When I was 10 (which was 30yrs ago!), I remember accompanying my mum to a women's group she regularly went to. There were a couple of times that a Nutrimetics consultant came and we tried out their products including myself as I was curious
I also remember trying out my aunt's expensive creams like La Prairie and clarins again I was curious.
Unfortunately, using such products has damaged my skin. It's prone to break out, and it's very sensitive. I have to carefully look at the ingredients list to determine if it's ok to buy. Please teach children not to touch skincare and make-up products 🙏 Sunscreen should really be the only thing to use!
Parents are not parenting these days because even the parents’ attention has shifted to social media
ОтветитьMy mother would not buy any of that for me. The kids that can't afford it get bullied. And they aren't just "kids" they are young girls. We are damaging our children.
ОтветитьKids can’t read because adults are TIRED we literally do not get a break even before adding kids to the equation… with how much we have to work it doesn’t leave enough time for all the other bullshit (cooking 3 meals, working out to stay healthy, spending time with friends and family, cleaning not only your home but also yourself, maybe find time to relax for a bit if you can) AND THEN oh yea you also have a kid that you have to teach how to be a literal person which includes helping them do homework and manage their time to be sure they learning the material they need to while also micro managing their free time to be sure they aren’t swayed by capitalism or any of the other million bad influences that are on the internet…
We preach taking care of our selves but it’s quite literally an unrealistic standard with the amount of hours are in the day… anyone who manages to keep up with everything I listed out above is DEFINITELY NOT getting 8 hours of sleep… it’s a paradoxical nightmare that is being an adult (with AUDHD in my case which just makes it all twice as hard and why I will not be having children unless I win the lottery🙃)

Friday night funkin?
Wow the last time I saw a 10yr old so interested in makeup was my cousin but that’s because I was learning special effects
ОтветитьI fr thought Sephora 10 year olds were just a hype, so I drove to Sephora and saw 10 year olds with their Lululemon yoga pants and Lululemon belt bag. I wanted to scream. Also at my high school when they view essay’s or CERS we turn in for History or English they have a system to check to see if you used AI for your homework.
Ответитьive never seen makeup ads be marketed to children and i work in PPC lol majority of social apps do not have the option to target ads under 18
Ответить
