The only pitty - Sharpe fought on the wrong side - maybe our world would be better if he didn't
but I'm verry sorry if I have distrubed your feelings - Napoleon was one to admire even today.

The "Jane" character is a really nasty creature. Good Actress, shows how pretty a vulgar piece of nastiness can be.

Sharpe is highly entertaining yet let's not kid ourselves despite saving Wellington he would never had made it to an officer rank. Even today you need to attend the right schools to get to Sadnhurst.

It saddens me to know just how many filming sites from this series have been damaged or destroyed in the war in Ukraine.

The Prince of Orange was not a Great commander, being only 22, and not fit to lead that many men, but he was not SO dumb that he'd not know why a unit is forming square.

My first time finishing the series -- I have to watch the India episodes on amazon now -- but this seems to be the main bit. Felt bittersweet. Hagman and Harris dying was tough. I still don't get why Hagman came back other than there was no other work to find. And why did Harper left Ireland and Ramona to come back? But that horse steak looked great. Lucille seems like the best woman for Sharpe, so that was a good ending for him.

Jane's fate was just. Now she's totally broke, no nobleman lover, and she's pregnant out of wedlock. The rest of her life would likely be miserable. Feel bad for her kid though.

Was everyone an adulterer? Wellington, Uxbridge, Rosendale, even Sharpe cheated on his Portuguese wife once.

Main takeaway from the series - the wealthy and aristocracy are the true villains. True back then, and its true now.

Anyway, great series, I'll wait a few years and watch it again. Now that's soldiering!

This series is amazing. I just can't understand some of the tactics of the times though. Being pounded by artillery, just stand there in a holo square or lie down. Like man get into the trees or something, lol.

The next Sharpe movie came out in 2006 - almostb 10 years later!
Sharpe, Harper and Simmerson returned. The movie had a bigger budget and took place in India.
We also got to see tits for the first time!

Jane is just an evil witch, and the stupid man does not realize if she would do this to her ex she would also one day do it to him. Igorance is bliss and love is blind. Deadly combination.

Here's something I've never been able to figure out. Why the subtitles always translate with "Long live the Emperor" what the French soldiers say "Long live the France".

One of my ancestors was killed at Quatre-Bras. He served in the army of
the Duke of Brunswick. R.I.P But sorry, you have forgotten (...?😉) a "little"
detail: The Prussians (Blücher) arrived late (you all know the reasons - battle of Ligny 2 days before and their orderly retreat after heavy losses etc.-), but they decided the last battle together with their allies...! (And undisputed: Wellington and his allied troops had the brunt battle at Waterloo !)
THANK YOU !

As a keen military historian with particular focus on the peninsular campaign I own this set of dvds and watch it through every couple of years. However, I found this last episode at Waterloo fairly unsatisfying. For those interested, there were two more “episodes” that take place in India that are quite interesting and two particular characters, beyond Sharpe, show up again! The episodes are titled “Sharpe’s Challenge” and “Sharpe’s Peril”. Great fun for Sharpe enthusiasts.
