Is It Okay To Be Yourself?

Beware of the narcissist 'control' efforts.

I understand the concept of "be who you are," but some people are terrible people, and they are being who they are (or at least that's what they think)...this confuses me.

Being yourself requires not having a self image. The reason you try to force yourself to be something you're not is because you're trying to mold your self image. When you know that you are God and not the personality, then the personality can be left alone to be itself, that is, to act unhindered by the delusion of free will that tries to control it.
