That pilot needs an update on the size of the USA. 1,000 miles from Seattle is about Cheyenne, WY, not Tennessee. Seattle to Memphis is almost 1,900 miles, or twice as far.

From Kodiak, 1,900 miles is San Francisco or Kamchatka

Training is everything! Over and over until it is muscle memory. And retraining every year.
As a flight attendant for nearly 20 yrs, I had quite a few medical emergencies. Your training just kicks in and you know what to do. The one and only time we evacuated a plane, the same thing. Muscle memory just kicks in and we had them all off, in 45 seconds.
All fine, except for two sprained ankles. Training, testing, and more training. And these guys have such better medical knowledge then we did. Just so impressed! Wow!

"Lost at sea"... I'm sorry but that has got to be one of the absolute most horrific ways to die.... oh man how depressing. I could never do what these coast guard people do ....I would never pass the fitness part alone but my anxiety would not let me.

Who pays for the c-130 to fly 2000 miles for a man overboard in the middle of the ocean? Why doesn’t the vessel who lost him look for him?

Ответить
Austin Smith
Austin Smith - 26.03.2023 03:28

Why do the taxpayers have to fly a C-130 11 hours through hazardous conditions because the freighter is negligent and doesn’t have the correct mechanical parts it needs? Makes no sense to me

Ответить
Austin Smith
Austin Smith - 26.03.2023 03:27

1) how do all these fisherman/mariners get themselves in these ridiculous predicaments so frequently

2) why are the taxpayers responsible for these idiots who have to get saved? Why doesn’t the fishing boat come home if there’s a sick person? Why doesn’t the fishing boat have medical equipment in case someone gets ill? It costs a million dollars to fly a C-130 around trying to find a ship to pick up a guy with a stomach ache. Someone please explain.

A "normal" EMT would have been able to give him some Valume or Ativan. Don't you guys have the same type of system available? Too long a seizure could have caused some severe damage.

Thats why you always give oxygen. If things go wrong you will have a buffer because the lungs are still filled with oxygen.

That Peter Evonuk seems to have no idea about the range of his aircraft, which I would have thought was need to know information. I guessed at 4,500 miles, considering the 1st story they flew 2,200 miles to the ice breaker and back, then I looked it up. The HC-130J has a range of about 4,900 nm, so at 950 nm each way, you'd still have more than half your fuel reserves for the search (so 9+ hours on station). Even the earlier model (HC-130H) had 4,500 nm range. Not sure which 1709 is.

Well being there for Stan and actually working at the hospital before and after crab season ended, most certainly cause they have some lapses in memory and judgment! However the Coast Guard does not judge, they simply take care of folks that I think need to be helped without overthinking any of these issues. So get your shit together

I heard the woman officer answer the phone w/ a “Yes sir”. I’m sorry but that type of gender specific language cannot be tolerated in any branch of the armed forces. These individuals must get on board with the new lexicon demanded by the present administration. Until then, things would revert back to addressing the rank w/ sir, madam, etc. Unacceptable.

To stop the excessive spinning I would tie my tie off line to one end of the basket or the litter to keep it from spinning uncontrollably otherwise what good is the line if it cannot stop the spinning as well as pulling the device onto a skip? Use it for all it is worth guys, hook it to one end or the other not in the middle.
