ОтветитьGreat video, this guy knows his stuff, but where are the fender covers to protect the fenders and front nose, a dealer mechanic should be the very first thing they do because it’s beaten into you at the dealers I’ve worked at, just busting balls. It is a great video.

ОтветитьLoved the series on this, new (ish) Chrysler tech myself, also just bought my first challenger, a used 2016 Challenger R/T Plus w/58k miles. Am curious and not getting too much help from my "parts department" guys... Can I do the 6.4L cam on my 2016 Hemi? (am planning on using long tube headers instead of the SRT headers). Mine is Automatic Transmission with the MDS of course but am planning on getting the tuner as well and disabling it.. At that time do I pull the MDS units out and plug their holes or how does that work? Have built a ton of "old school" Hot Rods such as 67-69 camaro's, 70's El Camino's, 70's Ford Torino's, etc.. Mostly all bolt on parts such as intakes, carbs, MSD distrubitors and headers though. Still learning all the new technologies on these newer cars and performance upgrade compatibilities and such. Any advice or part numbers if possible would be GREATLY appreciated! Keep up the great videos!

ОтветитьHow do you tighten the harmonic balancer without the motor turning? I did these mods and more and the car is slow and lacks power. These mods aren’t that good but it does run and you have to figure some things out on your own

I'm thinking my '14 Ram with 5.7 jumped time.
It started vibrating like I was driving on a washboard, p2172 code, CEL, ABS, traction Control lights and throttle plate light, and a derated message on my screen. I made it to the side of the road. Engine barely running and shut down. Tow truck came, tired to start it, had a tapping in it. I replaced the MAP sensor, cleaned the throttle body and was lucky enough to find find an intake manifold and replaced that.
I did a throttle relearn.
I started it up the tap turned into a loud clack clack clack, now I'm thinking it broke a valve head off, now I'm looking at a complete tear down to check it out.
Which brand would you personally use when replacing the timing chain?, Brand I or brand M? Brand I has the oil piston tensioner where brand M doesn't look like it has one.
Money is a factor
Also, I'm going with your recommendation and upgrading to a Hellcat oil pump
On the hellcat since I won't need to swap lifters because non mds, can I just roll the cam a couple of times to keep the lifters up in the pockets while the cam comes out

ОтветитьI watched this series, and man, it really helped. I know I'm late to the party, but I recently did this cam change (all stock) because of a bad lifter. I have a question, so I hope you see this. In the process of removing the damper, a very small piece broke off of it, approximately 1/2in x 1/4in chunk. Would this then cause small vibrations at random RPMs? I'm thinking of just replacing it to be safe.

ОтветитьSo I’m having a very hard time getting the cam sprocket bolt off, I used my dewalt impact and it would not come off. I let it soak in wd40 and rust buster over night. Mine is a 6.1 hemi do you have any recommendations I really don’t wanna snap the bolt or anything

ОтветитьGot a 67 charger I’m going to swap a 5.7 hemi in with a Texas speedway stage 2 cam and possibly have a 2.9 liter whipple supercharger lined up

ОтветитьIs the number one piston supposed to be all the way at top dead center when the phaser mark reached 12 o’clock or should the dwell time be right at 12 o’clock? I’m not sure if this makes sense but according to my research there is a dwell time and you have to split that. My phaser mark is at 12 o’clock and my piston is all the way at the top. I’m not sure which is correct.
