The thing that no one is mentioning is that by Slot's actions earlier in the season - namely subbing TAA when he's not been good enough and not starting him when he believes Bradley to be the better option - has brought the spoilt brat out in Trent. By his actions, Slot has shown him that he's dispensable and he's not the golden child. From his body language and demeanor ever since, he's proven himself to not like having has ability questioned. I do not blame FSG regarding the Trent issue. This should have been sorted 13 months ago before we had the coach and backroom staff upheaval. Who fought for and was in charge of all football matters at that time? Not Edwards and not Hughes.

Trent really thinks we are stupid. He's trying to eat his cake and have it, he has seen Jude Bellingham and thought he wants a bit of that. Which is fine, you can have your ambitions, but as a man, you gotta stand by your decisions. Don't play us for a fool. Sometimes what you say and do gives people an idea where you stand but also what you don't say or do does that too. As for FSG, if they think this policy of not shifting when you need to shift is gonna work for player retention, then they have something coming to have these contract saga till this moment unresolved is already a bad thing regardless of what happens. I would personally sell Trent this month, if he's really pushing for this Real Madrid move. We can't be having all this outside noise from Real Madrid media until end of this season. While we're in a league title race and potentially cups up for grabs to win it would be extraction for us as a club very similar to the "Klopp leaving" Moto from the media it didn't help us in the end especially for league title last season. Once Klopp announced he was leaving, the priority was getting the best replacement for him. Only then would the expiring contracts of the trio be looked at. I think they too wanted to see how life under the new manager would be before signing. Reason why Salah and VVD are seemingly going to now stay.

So no one should question why they let the contracts come close to expiring. The real issue here is TAA. He does have the right to leave if he wants. But be open and clear about it is all we ask.

If he wants to leave I find it hard to believe that he will continue to give his all for the club. I want him to stay, but the club will cope. The things that annoy me are the silence, and the fact that this could be another player that would have been cashed in on if it had been made clear in the previous transfer window; so disrespecting the fans, and doing the club out of money that could have been reinvested. Liverpool has lost too many players on a free recently, and even if they got nominal amounts for each, it could have gone back into finding good young talent and giving them a start.

If Trent doesn't want to stay, least he can do is to hustle some money from Madrid.

TAA has known of Madrids interest since March so the clubs been in limbo since March if Madrid want him swap him for Tchoumeni we need another defensive midfielder and we won't loose out as we have young Connor who's already put Mbappe in his back pocket

I've got lots of thoughts on all this. 1) FSG are a disgrace for not negotiating these contracts a couple of years ago. They could have done so and let trent go for a fee.
2) Trent is acting poorly and if he goes, will just be regarded as another michael owen. Mercenary part two.
3) So we could lose trent, VVD and Salah in the summer. Robertson is getting on and so is Allisson. Nunez isn't performing. Jota is injury prone. We might win things this year, but what's FSG's plan for the future and can we trust them?

Unless Madrid offer a substantial amount , we should let him go when his contract is up

Up until a week ago I was of the opinion that ‘he finishes his contract, he can leave.’ That has changed, I’m now of the opinion, ‘get whatever we can for him in this transfer window and get rid of the arrogant (unt of a man’!

Trent will get the majority of the blame for not being loyal. But realistically it’s our pathetic board for not wanting to keep a world class scouse player at the club. How often do you get an elite level player like Trent come though the academy? We could be waiting years to get another player like Trent.

Totally agree with this opinion, part of the blame is with the club but Trent needs to man up and accept accountability for his decision.
If he goes on a free I see him in the same light as Owen, I’d be happy for him to stay but this will live long in fan’s memories and I don’t think he should be captain even if he does stay.
