Beautiful stuff. Thanks from Australia, I'll let you know what the problem was when I've tried all of your ideas! 😊
Ответитьthanks, dad
ОтветитьYou forgot chain design . Schwinn uses a flat faced chain. Other chains Some links are pushed in or out or flat..
ОтветитьHe has a video for what we wanted to see here! Lol
ОтветитьAn additional reason is a chain thats too long. This decreases the preload tension that the rear derailleur should have thus allowing phantom shifting.
ОтветитьMine does it when riding up ramp
ОтветитьIm going just quickly explain what happened with my chain as it is really annoying. So i fitted a new cassette and chain about 6 weeks ago and the chain started to slip and jump forward, so i fitted a new Sram chain and cassette and its still slipping and jumping forward. I actually fell off my bike with previous chain.
Please can you help?
This video is such a great omg thanks bud!
ОтветитьWtf is a friction shifter
ОтветитьI have a Campagnolo nuovo rear derailleur and replaced the worn jockey wheels with Shimano. The bottom wheel skips and won't grab the chain and chain gets stuck on smallest gear. This video is very helpful thank you!
ОтветитьThanks 👍 I needed the lesson
ОтветитьSo many fukin adds
ОтветитьMy piece of shit 20 year old bike won’t even change gears when I tell it to. It randomly goes up and down gears and the chain slips constantly. I can barely even get moving on it. My mom still doesn’t believe I should get a new bike
ОтветитьMine only does it when I don’t want it to ( the whole damn time)
ОтветитьPerfect! Helped me solve my issue in less than 5 minutes and made me look like a champion in front of my girl told had to rebuild the trans on it for her lol thanks again
ОтветитьTurns out mine was vecuase the axle was snapped 😅
ОтветитьVery very informative! Thanks so much, just bought a new bike yesterday after having not ridden one in 16-17 years! Nice to be back on one but the gears are slipping back and forth on me (new bike). Hopefully it’s the first issue you’re talking on, I’ll check it out.
Any advice or ingenious way on how to “work” on your bike at home? How to get it up in the air without one of these stands to hold it in?
Thanks again!
I had this problem where my bike I start to pedal and then it feels like the pedal is snapping but the chain is still on so what’s happening is it’s sliding and it just gets stuck again on the hooks but usually it’s not the front sprocket it’s the cassette that’s worn even if the front chain ring is worn it’s still the cassette that’s mostly worn out.I took it to my bike repair shop and they adjusted the back and front derailleur’s and then I tried it out but it still made the sliding noise so then we just went with changing the back worn out cassette and then I tried riding it again and FIXED it was that if you have the same problem just get your stuff adjusted good first then try changing the cassette.
ОтветитьSomeone messed with my bike while I was at work and the chain won’t go on third gear which sucks bc that’s my main speed
Ответить3rd chapter is the most important chapter. This is how a bike shop fixed my Shimano derailer within a minute.
ОтветитьPriceless advice thanks thumbs up 👍 😊
Ответитьwhen I was younger and at peak condition, I actually could generate enough torque with my tall long legs and body to throw the chain off the chainring because the fact that the chain is looser than with a single speed which is snug and because the teeth are not as aggressive as a single speed as well.
the bike store guy looked into absolutely everything it's so hard to believe that any human could exceed the limits of the components especially because the pros are so muscular, and they train for strength and torque.
so somehow my long legs and body were the culprit and normal height and older people could punish that bike which got to the point where it would skip even when I was sitting down and not pushing it really hard.
I say that single speeds are much safer and reliable, especially if you are a torque monster and tall with lots of leverage.
so many fatal disasters can happen with gears, I'm just as lucky I didn't get the chain snagged in the rear derailleur and broke it off back then which would have seriously injured me and the bike.
my legs were not even that muscular.
what's strange now is that recently I have found that I can ride most geared bikes with no immediate problems.
although I have still found that problems can develop if I ride them long enough.
I can still stretch out an 8 speed chain fairly quickly.
I'm not riding high gears on hills or anything.
and if I strengthened my hips, I might easily be able to throw the chain off once more.
I actually had more power than a tour or olympic level rider due to natural body leverage?!?
first check chainwear. then check gear allignment. then check your dropout if it is bent, then check wear on the cog.
ОтветитьHey what happens if you press start to pedal and it goes down without it turning the back wheel
ОтветитьHi RJ, I fell off my bike and got injured badly. This happened when my all body weight was on the pedal and the chain slipped off the front gear towards the right side of the gear (where there are no kegs). I rolled over the handle with the momentum/torque of my body on the gravel ground! Later on I checked that and found that when there is full force on the pedal, ( like while facing the wind), chain slips off the front gear towards the right side (between the cover and the gear). What could be wrong with the chain assembly? please advise.
ОтветитьThis was helpful thank for uploading.
ОтветитьVery helpful, thanks. I had no idea about frame flex as a reason for chain skippage
ОтветитьHalf of the gears work fine and the rest keep jumping lmao
ОтветитьMy bike doesn’t work in the numbers by side 7
ОтветитьMy problem is i get gears all lined up and working nice an snappy then after about 20 mins i loose tension on the cable and it takes 2-3 clicks to shift gears. Anoying.
Ответитьasumer thanks bro
ОтветитьWhat can be reason? Bike is brand new. Maybe i put to much oil on chain. It pop when i was try to push my pedal fast when i was driving it make a pop noise
ОтветитьMy chain jump to 10th gear from 11 gear when my bike was upsidedown and i was moving pedal in reverse fast. Suddenly it got stuck and try to go on 10 cog
ОтветитьGreat video, thanks.
Ответить1 minute of actual info.... 7 minutes of non stop rambling.... Cut to the Chase
Ответитьfk, mine have every single problem
Ответитьmake sure the new outer cables are for gears, as brake outer cabling have a bigger internal diameter to use fatter brake cables...
ОтветитьSameeee
ОтветитьI was sitting here staring at my bike after adjusting all these screws on the derailleur and come to realize it was just bent, bent it back into place, readjusted the screws and it’s totally fine. Thanks for the video lmfao. Helped me figure out a simple solution to a simple problem
ОтветитьTHANK YOU! I’ve been trying to figure out whats wrong with my chain since last summer but I could never get a proper explanation. This video helped me out a lot 🙌🏾
ОтветитьI was trying like an idiot to fix shifting problems, I done everything to adjust rear derailleur, but when I was riding only on that smallest cog was a problem, chain was slipping all the time, its not indexing problem and chain is not wear also, I think probably the problem is with that smallest cog, teeth are worn, although I can't see well that.
ОтветитьI have bad skipping or slipping gear problem at winter, I have full suspension MTB, which is a bit loose on rear wheel, which might cause skipping also, how I can fix it to be much stiffer? I don't want it to be too stiff because going downhill rear suspension must work properly, problem is uphill gear skipping at winter time, I just broke four teeth from front chainring, so I have to replace it.
Ответитьwhat to do when my chain goes from smallest gear to 3rd gear and shift next 4 gears fine and doesn't want to jump on biggest gear? When i go from biggest gear to lowest it doesn't shift to second smallest gear too.
ОтветитьA worn front chain ring can make the chain slip. Also a build up of dirt inbetween the cogs on the freewheel can make the chain slip.
Ответитьwhy would mine be doing it on a brand new bike?
ОтветитьMy newish road bike (9 months old) has occasionally been making a clunk and the pedals will quickly rotate forward a bit.
I'm pretty sure it's not the front chainrings, there's only 2 rings, and chain can't catch on the other ring not in use.
I was thinking if the tension was low in the rear derailleur cable it would be pulling the chain to the right, so it wouldn't really be catching on a cog as the one to the right is smaller.
But maybe the teeth of the current cog in use are occasionally catching on the side of the chain instead of going in the middle, this would lift up the chain and make a nasty sound/feel.
I'm gonna look at it tomorrow and try and tension the cable a bit more.
