i imagine the valar going to war like walking talking nuclear weapons armed with fancy swords and shields. and i just love the time scales these story's work on as we today get pissed at having to wait 2 days for our parcels to be sent to us yet these story's work by the century or millennia. they certainly dont rush

I'm gonna call it every time I see it: Balrogs don't likely have wings. The passage people use is in Moria, where it describes great billowing black smoke from its back AS IF WINGS, not actually saying it HAS wings.
*I like to think of it like exhaust fumes being pumped out it's back, since it's full of fire.

And a further question: you say Círdan accepted to stay in Middle-Earth after the War of Wrath, was he asked by the Valar to carry on? I mean, his vision and mission had been achieved by this point.
