In some places like Odisha (in India), elephant fodder (plants that elephants eat) are being planted around forest edges (before the agricultural area starts) to avoid wild elephants from marching forward towards crops. Wildlife park rangers will tell you first thing not to feed wild elephants because once they know they can get food from you, they will keep coming to you for food and if you are unable to feed them, they can attack you or get aggressive..they are intelligent so they even march forward and extend/insert their trunk into passing-by vehicles if people from vehicles have fed them at any point (example: you can see this issue here in this videos of elephant corridors/highways of srilanka where a wild-elephant does not cross the corridor but deliberately waits on the road, comes forward and tries to to stop the passing-vehicle in hopes getting food from the driver/vehicle, some wild elephants who have been fed by humans previously wait patiently to get food from humans passing by on the corridor-roads but some wild elephants get bold and aggressive towards the human/vehicle so its better not to feed them). Its safe for humans and wild elephants both as long as the wild-elephant does not recognize/find out that he can get food from humans..that way wild elephant will not bother getting closer to human and will go on his own path towards the forest...Voice for asian elephants society by Sangita Iyer is working on establishing elephant-friendly fencing so that farmer's crops also don't get damaged and elephants also don't die...feeding a trained/tamed elephant living in an elephant-camp in presence of a "Mahout/elephant trainer" is fine and a different story but feeding an untamed wild elephant is a big No-No. Feeding elephants and caring for them can be done in an organized fashion similar to how wildlifeSOS organization of india and Voice for asian elephants society are doing...not in scattered manner..as this will help endure safety of humans and elephants both...

You see these roads are created in elephants habitat (where they live or roam) since people create roads that are in elephants habitat they can’t resist all the sounds or food they carry on vehicles some elephant in this video are hungry since he’s hungry he does that so it is not the elephants fault it’s our fault we should change this to avoid these types of encounter.
