About contaminents in food, i sometimes get asked to cook for pay, grinders often get mixed use. My spice mill(coffee grinder) gets used for 20 different spices. To keep aromas separated, i just grind some rice between the different spices.
One little blast of rice grinding takes caref of any cross-flavor issue.
