Some pretty good points, however, on point 5, you can only see patients without a doctor's referral only depending on the laws in your state. In Montana, for instance, PT has had direct access since the 1990's at least, without any limitations of requiring a doctor's referral after a certain number of visits (like in Georgia). And, if anyone who's been active in the profession since the years of bachelor's degrees (like myself), and they don't know about DPT, then they're either blind, or completely lost ... especially, considering, I've known more than a few DPT's who've reminded me on a regular basis that they were DPT's (BTW, don't do that to us "dinosaurs", it's pretty rude).
ОтветитьI’ve been a PT/Physio for 16 years. Thank you for your video 👏🏻
ОтветитьAlso, mill clinics where you see a lot of patients and do not have time to do notes. You have to do your notes at home and are not compensated (paid) for doing them outside of work hours.
ОтветитьI am in my second yr of PT school and I am enjoying it 🙂
ОтветитьAs a DPT for decade, great points. Unfortunately I don’t see this changing in the field. Less autonomy given to us than we actually deserve. Different states don’t allow different things and it’s a shame. Main thing also is there is minimal to no progression in our field in salary. Until we get access to images, prescribing limited pain medication like the PT in the military does, I don’t see it happening. With those, ppl who get certified and get extra education should be allowed with increase pay.
ОтветитьSo useful ❤❤thank u
ОтветитьSo hot ❤
ОтветитьI am a physio student in my second year
My question is
Is the salary good?
If you want to do pediatric OT , do you just go to PT school ?
ОтветитьThinking of becoming a PT! Im friendly but im an introvert and have trouble finding stuff to talk about 😅
Is there hope for me on the field?
I am doing a bachelor and I can see also patients without referral.
ОтветитьI am studying physical therapy and I am going once per week to university. I am nearly in my third year. In my country PT is a bachelor can do a specialisation in masters.
Ответитьdid you ever consider OT? if you did, how did you decide between OT and PT?
ОтветитьDo you need to be physically strong to be a physiotherapist? I'm very interested in this field but I'm not the strongest or sportiest person out there. I understand that one needs to be fit and healthy enough to lift or carry a patient but I can't even do push-ups... This is quite concerning to me.
ОтветитьI am a physician that had a recent discussion with a friend that is a PT. He said direct access is a farce. Something about how vision 2020 was a way to sell students into becoming PTs. The student loan:income ratio is horrid. First, no MD is going to agree with a PT seeing a patient before they see the patient. I think PTs serve a specific role, but none of them will see my patient before I do for a new pathology. I had a PT miss a brain tumor and treat someone's dislocated shoulder for 2 weeks without knowing. DPT does not prepare students for practice in primary care settings where direct access may be possible. We have PTs rotate with us sometimes and they are very lost in general medicine topics. I know there are good ones. But, PTs are not nor will ever be a 'doctor'. No way will me or my colleagues approve of PTs ordering imaging, prescribe certain Rx meds, perform injections, etc. These were some of the the pain points from a recent discussion with my friend. Sounds like PT is fun, but has an identity crisis. Hence the pay cuts from Medicare. I have my own qualms with medicine, but are different. Highly recommend anyone looking into healthcare professions to do their due diligence before deciding on a career in healthcare. Very rewarding for sure. Just need to know the good with the bad and what matches your personality best.
ОтветитьWhen you said if you want to work in the medical field but you don't like blood or needles, I was like exactly!! But as a PT or PTA how do you avoid getting sick from patients that might be sick, or what if a patient has an infection? Do PT/PTA always wear gloves when treating patients? What precautions do they take?
ОтветитьI'm a 2nd year physical therapy university student
And every point you have said is very accurate thanks for clarifying the points
However I am in deep love with physical therapy.
I really appreciate it. Thanks.
You did explain so clearly.
I really like your channel, you really give us the" Pt students" honest ideas about field.Thank you!
By the way I kinda wondered, what is your mbti?
