Still driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee 1995, it has the inline 6. Still strong, transmission runs smooth. Best car I've ever owned.
Ответить...I Bought a jeep that doesn't have that engine. BUUUT, it does have a different AMC engine.
Ответить"Clutch Master Cylinder is External" -- ahem, I did not see you check the fluid level in the master cylinder... Low fluid can cause the clutch to not properly disengage...
ОтветитьThings rust when you never clean them. I have always been very good about not allowing salt to sit for too long on my cars and never had an issue with frame rot. I own a 2011 Wrangler and it has been under coated so all I have to worry about are those places where it's not. I will wash my vehicles even if I know the next day will snow again. You got to understand that there are people out there who NEVER undercarriage wash their vehicles up north in any type of vehicle not just Wranglers. Those people just think it won't happen to them or they give absolutely no F's about their property.
ОтветитьMy 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 208k with the 4.0 inline 6. Running like a champ. Just took her in the rare western Oregon snow!
ОтветитьBloody hell Scotty, I just warched a clip of you praising the V6, now you are praising the old straight 6. 🤔😡
ОтветитьLove the old 6 cylinder jeeps!! Own 3 of them. Bullet proof. 91, 95 and an 05…..
Ответитьbuy the one with the 4 cylinder!
ОтветитьMy 1966 CJ5 with a Hurricane Four. That is a real Jeep before they were ruined.
Ответить2015 wrangler jku 116,000 miles and counting on a 3.6 with zero issues. With proper maintenance you will get good life out of just about anything.
ОтветитьI thought that you hated Jeeps. I have a Wrangler 2013 model with a 2.8 CRD. No engine problems at all. Bought in 2017
ОтветитьDont buy a jeep till they fix all the problems.
ОтветитьI have a smaller engine 2.5l and they work fine it’s 25 years old, put gas in it, and still runs. It smogs check every year with no issues(knock on wood).
Ответитьhello Scotty,
I am in hunt for a cherokee XJ and ran into a yj outta curiosity I decided to go check it out. I fell in love with it.
Its a '92 YJ manual Transmission. [97k miles 4.0 6Inline]
but it has rust... the body is fine, the bottom is rusted but its only surface rust, he said its in long beach CA, parked for a while before he purchased. They bought it 5k miles ago within 2 years they've done a couple repairs. I test drove it and other then alignment and a surface rust.. it runs very good. I was excited after test driving the yj but after your video saying to not get it if its rusted... I have to ask... even if is surface rust and from california?? beach cities....
its as a daily, or should I look into a Cherokee..?? [my original hunt...]
im in ca and got 16 ft of snow last year but the diffrence salting roads is illegal here they use sand
ОтветитьHi Scotty have a 96 Jeep grand Cherokee it has slow acceleration any suggestions please need help
ОтветитьLove my 2.5 4 cylinder here on Maui just replaced freeze plugs at 170k miles. Only issue I’ve got is it won’t fill up gas tank all the way I can get a half tank but that’s it any idea why that is?
ОтветитьThat inline six 258 or 4.0 are like a cummins.. But the 99 and up have a crack prone cylinder. Other than that there has never been an American engine built that is more reliable. They do like a high volume oil pump if ever drop the pan for any reason.
ОтветитьNv3550 trans right? I hate jeeps but id probably buy one... Manual that is.
ОтветитьI've had numerous Wranglers with no issues/ I go off roading also. Current Jeep is a 2012 Rubicon Call of Duty MW3.
Ответить1992 engine? today is 2023!!!!!
ОтветитьConverted mine to external slave and never looked back. Installed a Centerforce 20 plus years ago and also, never looked back.
ОтветитьI’ve got a 2000 TJ , 4.0 straight six, and just changed my 3 rd clutch. It’s ok. I figure it’s part of the experience. Love my jeep. Drove it to go buy coffee beans this morning with the dog in the back. Doors and top off and wind blowing in my face. It was a great morning. ❤
ОтветитьScotty, you can just bore out the 2.4L cylinders .30 over, supercharge it, then swap the ax5 out for an ax15, problem solved, you want to do some extra, get the Dana 44s from a tj, its more worth it than a 6 cylinder, the knowledge you gain is invaluable
ОтветитьMy 88, 5 spd, 4.2L, Wrangler has 411,000 miles (2nd engine). Getting a little rust underneath. Wish there was a way to remove the rust and fix that issue. Maybe buy a new frame and rebuild it ? Did a Nutter Bypass, and removed old coil and distributor, and installed a HEI Ignition system (w/ 10.5 mm spark plug wires). Runs great. Gets 13 MPG now, 35 yrs later. Best vehicle I ever owned.
ОтветитьI have had seven Jeeps since 1967 starting with a CJ-3B and now a Gladiator. They have all run without trouble or failure. Like most things take care of it and it will take care of you.
ОтветитьI've had my 1994 YJ 4.0 5-speed for nearly 30 years, and 240,000, original clutch. Still runs like new. Best purchase I've ever made.
ОтветитьI love my 95 wrangler used only in the summer
ОтветитьBlud has the cleanest jeep known to man
ОтветитьConvert it from internal slave to external while you do the clutch
ОтветитьScott what oil and what is the preferred temp to keep the coolest at
ОтветитьWhat camera are u using? And do you use an outside mic or the one from the device
ОтветитьMine had an issue getting stuck in neutral. When I towed it to a shop, the issue fixed itself. I ripped it apart to check out the inside and replaced the synchronizers. Everything inside looked perfect (other than worn synchros) except the shift rails and bearings were very gummy. I now think that the bearings on the shift rails were gummed up and basically locking the shift rails in place.
Still driving that transmission after work and cleaning the inside. Been 5 years and 15k miles, still works just fine and hasn’t gotten stuck since.
how do i test relays on my 2015 jeep patriot sport , thanks in advance
ОтветитьScotty, I prefer 30 speed transmissions that never stop shifting. Not stopping shifting and turning off the engine at stoplights and having no spare tire is the future!!!!
ОтветитьYes, replaced the clutch slave cylinder twice on my 88 yj. What a PITA, replaced clutch 3 times. Great vehicle, beat the c$@p out of it. Gave it to a friend in 2006 who ran it 2 years, sold it and bought a tj. I am pleased with my current 17 jk. Thank you, Scotty.
ОтветитьIn the foothills of Northern California they are now salting to roads , they just mix it with watter spray it on and call it Brine .
ОтветитьScotty your videos are great but you're talking too fast
ОтветитьYes, I live the external slave cylinder, even mechanical clutch fork is easier! Make sure throughout bearing is good or lubricated!
ОтветитьYou could jiggle the stick to unstick it. Try filling with gear oil and running it to lubricate. Peugeot transmissions are actually very straightforward and easy to work on in spite of all the bogus rumors! Good luck!
ОтветитьI've had wranglers, cherokee, & grand cherokee with the 4.0, an absolutely amazing little engine, but really love my grand cherokee with the 5.2
ОтветитьThe best yrs are 1992 to 2006. And of those years 1996 to 2006.
The 1988 to 1991 were carburetor and no abs. 1992 became fuel injecton. 1996 to 2006 more hp torque better mpg, got abs and coil over springs which far superior to leaf springs and were wider heavier which safer on road.
I have a 97 xj that occasionally won't go into reverse with out going forward in 1st first
ОтветитьTRY ADJUSTING THE CLUTCH chicken 🐔 wings
ОтветитьMy 98 xj won’t start all crank no start any advice?
ОтветитьI really like the video that you made about this 1992 Wrangler I personally have a 1993 jeep wrangler labeled as the YJM model with the 2.54 cylinder engine in it and I gotta say it’s absolutely bulletproof only repairs I’ve ever had to do was clutch slave cylinder as well and the water pump the rest is just been normal routine maintenance and tuneups it has over 225,000 miles on it and it still runs like a champ but I’m pretty sure my master cylinder for my clutch is starting to go out now finally
ОтветитьMy 97 is pretty much rust proof. I just never drove it on salty roads .
It hasn't had oil pressure is a couple years. I replaced the oil sending unit a few times. It always lasts a day or so. I assume it is something electric.
I have a beautiful 98 wrangler completely rust free, every single thing on it works great, even the little four-cylinder 2.5 works great, but it doesn't work very hard. If I make a trip off the ranch into the city, can't do it on a windy day, one way or the other I won't be able to even keep the speed limit. But most of its life is Ranch duty, and I CAN drive it 40 miles to the nearest city if I have to, but I have other vehicles designated for highway use, and those will do the speed limit. The little wrangler is never reached the highway speed limit; 65 mph. It just won't go any faster than that.
ОтветитьScotty, have you dealt with the notorious lifter noise issue on the 4.0 yet?
Ответить
