I'm not an NHL fan the last few decades (I love the SJHL though!!!), not sure how I came across this video but it made me cry. Very classy, this child will remember this moment, I still have a framed personalized autographed picture of my hero at the time Mats Naslund in my office! My last football/soccer team before I got too old I was able to get the number 26 and all. These little gestures remain with us for our lives.

This was the best player/fan moment I've probably ever seen. This kid was so genuinely happy and grateful and had just lost his mom too and Carey Price just had a big heart. We need more people like these two in the world.

Hockey players have always been down to earth and kindhearted towards their fans.

Russ Conway, the Boston Bruins beat writer for the Lawrence Eagle Tribune in the 70s tells a story about interviewing Bobby Orr after a game one day at the Garden and Conway complaining to Orr about what a miserable day he was having. The 23 year old Orr invited him to join him on a car ride over to Boston Children's Hospital where Orr entered with pucks and sticks and spent hours with the sickest kids on they critical care ward. When they returned to Orr's car to leave Orr smiled and asked him: "How's your day going now?"

This man is a saint. In a world where there is so much ego in professional sports I love to see how much hockey players genuinely appreciate their fans. This is just on a whole other level though. I may be a NY Rangers fan but I am also a Carey Price fan for life. Imagine if everyone was this compassionate to others what a world it would be.

If you can’t really hear what the young fan says he said “can you sign my stick” then when price is about to set his gear down he says “are you allowed to say no to me” as he cries knowing that he can probably decline if he wanted to. But price saw in that moment with those tears what even just meeting and saying hi to him meant to this young fan.

This put me in tears what a wonderful compassionate man Carey Price is.

Really need to stop cutting onions when I watch videos like this.
