Some string theorists are saying there are ten to the power of 500 other universes with different basic physical laws from the one we live in. But that's a different question from the number of different parallel universe versions of our own universe as per Everett's Many Worlds Interpretation - that may effectively be infinite. So how does (10^500)*infinity sound? Rob

This is known as Olber's paradox, and as I say in my book, it was first solved by Edgar Alan Poe - the fact that the night sky is mainly black rather than white is proof that the universe is not infinitely old. But actually, cosmologists predict the opposite: they say the accelerating expansion is going to cause us to be able to be see less and less, so that eventually (trillions of years from now) we wouldn't be able to see anything outside of our solar system, if there were people then.

your argument at 1:40 ish about repetition without an outside reference point is what is exactly what Kant's biggest deal about knowledge was; you're looking to define all these things, but theres no way to have an outside unbiased knowledge of a universe you're fully engaged in; you are forever doomed to an impure understanding of the universe, for to have a pure understanding, you would have to have knowledge removed from any experience in this universe, which is impossible.

I need help on something Rob, we are basing dimensions on a tower right, but what if there was no universe for us to live in? ur basing the theory that the first dimension allows the next. But if there was no universe (that we live in) this must then mean that the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th dimention does not exist hoverver because 'other multipul universes' do, the rest of the dimensions must exist to allow for other possibilities so as daft as it sounds wouldnt you start with dimention 5?

Or maby work backwards starting with 11? By the way im just basing this on the fact that before the big bang there was no time. If this is so does this mean then time is only applicable within universes again saying that you cant build upon other dimentions without the 4th dimention? Sorry to be a pain

Perhaps 10 dimensions is the highest number of dimensions we can immagine as 3rd-dimensional creatures. Think of a flatlander - they may only be able to immagine 7 dimmensions, because they can't fathom gravity or the speed of light being different in other universes, because they don't know what gravity/light IS. Maybe in other dimmensions there are different factors - perhaps there are properties of universal unity that can be changed, making 13 dimmensions.

@MSeigeMalicious No, I don't think it's like the chicken and the egg paradox because of evolution but I agree with the rest of your paragraph. I think for the chicken or egg, it depends with what type of bird (or physics) you are dealing with. If a species of chicken could fly but got fat and couldn't fly anymore, then the whole species and future generations cannot fly. If the gene of an embryonic chick mutates then a new egg will form. either way both the egg and chick came together :)

Topologically-speaking, looking at each stage like the pages of a book, it's easier to make the leap from one page to any other page if intervening pages are bent for compaction. Seems like one always has to assume being at one of the right spots on the edge of page to make the leap elegantly, or a form of prescience in anticipating/controlling folds, with excess bending.

That is weird that if we existed out of a tiny point, how many variations of it would there be at the point of the beginning. Wouldn't there be infinite in dimensions at the very beginning to give it many posibilities of existince, with the mind and body. But yet there's only one true one that we know of, so it's real to say the least.

Wouldn't the tenth dimension be allowed to be true or false? As in 0 or 1 in binary terms. As well, by the fact that the tenth dimension is conceivable and that we can have any knowledge about it wouldn't it then exist within the ninth dimension of information? This concept would show that the ninth dimension exists within tenth dimension which exists within the ninth dimension creating an effect like putting one mirror in front of another. Thus creating a new line of infinite, no?

Yes, which is why I've always said with with this project that "before" and "after" our universe is really the same thing - a timeless state, an ultimate ensemble, from which our universe or any other springs through the breaking of symmetry.

In infinity, any point would be the dead center cause you don't know the starting or the ending point ergo you can't define wether it's the middle or not.

Time exist inside the infiniti in one dimension out side that you would find another infinit universe defined by all the infinit possibilitys on the dimension below becouse the dimension "under it" is infinit there us always new possiblilities in the dimension above and so on and so on and so on.... It never stops therefor there is no time so there is no beginning of something that created everything.and no end.... Almost like a god ;)

If there is no conciousness, then time does not make sense. If there is no time, then there is neither beginning nor end. No past presnt or future. No dimensions. Everything ceases to exist yet exists infinitely. Can?
