Avijit's comments are not correct at all. This revolution had nothing to do with Americans. Students, opposition parties and people of Bangladesh spontaneously staged the movements and demonstrations because of the brutal and heavy handed tactics of the then regime who ended up killing thousands of people and injuring many. One should consider watching those violent demonstrations and movements videos. Then any level headed person would understand that how it ended as it did. No amount of police or armed forces could actually tackle millions of people marching towards prime minister's office. If any the army actually did the right thing to arrange for her departure at those last moments otherwise it could have been very dangerous for the prime minister to survive people's onslaught and it well could have been tragic end for the then prime mister. I believe 15 years was a bit too long for the regime and in the process the rulers lost touch with the common people and thought they were untouchable. Sad ending but lessons learned for any would be dictator in future.
