The Peacemaker - George Clooney & Nicole Kidman Car Chase Movie Clip - S500 W140

A car chase ?! Rather a Panzer in action against its own. Pathetic.

OK movie, great scene -- an early pioneer of the "full contact car chase" that was later perfected by the Bourne Supremacy/Ultimatum. But I'm struck by two things watching this 25+ years after it came out:
1) The car chase is almost laughably slow when you pay attention to how fast they're actually driving, and the editing does it no favors. It's more "car cruising" than a car-chase.
2) You could never make this movie today with Nicole Kidman's character as she is portrayed here -- a pretty woman in a skirt, not in control of her emotions (which is actually realistic, because she's a nerdy nuclear expert without his combat training/experience), doing what the man tells her, telling him not to do things and him ignoring her, man-handling her out of the car despite her objections, then ending with him cold-bloodedly killing someone and walking past her indifferently with her having that "I find myself strangely aroused by his violent protection of me" look on her face.

This was a superb film and this chase was one of the most thrilling I've seen in a movie and ranks in my top 20. One of my bosses at my job had a W140 chassis Mercedes very similar to this one and I can attest to you they are built like a tank. This was a point in time when owning a Mercedes meant something, not the laughable, poor-quality jokes they have evolved into in modern times.

It was been all record in Bratislava, not Vienna. Vienna didnt give them a permission to filming....
