Intel i5-13600K vs i7-13700K vs i9-13900K // Test in 9 Games

Would I9 13900k make sense over I7 13700F for the average 10 Fps and the lows? Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Thanks, mind made up.. i5 13600k it is. Cheaper, less power use, and for the extra few frames that our eyes cant even see its not worth the $100+ to go 13700k.

With lower temps on the 13600k and a Z-Pro version motherboard you have the flexibility to overclock it and match the slight difference of FPS as the i7 and save you a hundred bucks to go towards a good GPU. Thats what the smart people did. Let the 'i9" snobs talk smack, its their money they are throwing away lol.

My new PC will probably have an i5 13600 and based on this comparison I have no worries. I'm not sure why anyone would pay more for an i7. The 1% lows are practically identical and that is more significant to me than the differences in average rates.

Thank you! The 13900k not worth the power draw imo. You could OC the 13600k with a good board and get mostly the same results. In 4k+ the difference in frame fps is negligible.

I've seen similar comparisons for the 12600K and 13700k, and they all show a substantial difference, so it's fair to assume that either your test is not properly executed, or you're faking things.

There are moments where the framerate of the i5 and the i9 are pretty much identical. That really says alot tbh.

Nice review, but testing a rtx 4090 on 1080p makes no sense. You buy a 4090 to play at 4k. So it would be interesting to see what the cpu and framerate performance is on 4k.

the 13600k can easily overclock to the same levels as the 13900k on the P cores and will perform equally in virtually every game for a fraction of the price. I don't even understand the purpose of the 13700k quite honestly because the performance difference between the 13600k and the 13700k is less than a percent once you've tuned it. All it takes is a minute of tweaking and tuning. At any rate the 13700k does not give you $100 boost in performance where other components would benefit more from that jump in price... like a better graphics card. The 13600k can keep up with an RTX 4090 easily.

For the price diff id definitely get the 137 over the 136 because the extra productivity/multitasking potential and just better performance is definitely valuable

How come the 13900k jumps so much in temp? Mine is the same normal gaming temps for my 13900k are about 55-60°c but I get the odd spike to 70-75°c for a couple of seconds then back down to normal temps again, is it normal to jump to 70’s then back down after like 2-5 seconds occasionally? Or do I have to repaste or see if the cooler is mounted a little off?
