The problem with SEA's societal issues are rooted from colonialism that has existed way way back before western powers fueled it up, it's hard to comfortably say but becoming the "new EU" needs all of asean to collectively agree and understands that their government are more in favor of working against the people.

ASEAN does not need to compete with EU(a declining region which would not hold any importance in world stage by end of this century) , ASEAN needs to compete with China as China is swallowing ASEAN.

The colorful ASEAN communities has been intrade among the member nations and with China, India, Russia for more than 2000yrs al4eady, without intentions or the stomach for any 'Garden lifestyle' of the western colloquial.

ASEAN are more than capable to fight our own battles and appreciate the 3rd world hegemonic nations such as US & EU to stay away fr this region.

Just a suggestion here... making comparison video on any topic is never a good thing. A country is just like a person but in bigger scale. Each person has his or her own unique ways and it is impossible to compare. Secondly, why would we want to be the new Europe when we are not even Europeans in the first place? ASEAN will not be the new Europe, but ASEAN will become a New Elevated ASEAN, why elevated? because we are becoming much wiser learning from past experiences and using it as lesson to avoid repeating same mistakes, at the same time, embracing our diversity to form a rainbow unity (that's what makes it so beautiful no?) If all of us look the same, talk the same, personality same, aren't we just like a machine? We want colors, combine 2 colors to create a new color... how wonderful to live in a world full of colors, don't you want that? Anyway, just sharing my thoughts

Asian people as realistic, what you see is what you get. They don’t live in pretensions but always live in reality. They are into peace, growth, stability and trading. Asian loves and respect their country, also they give importance to their religions. They don’t fight by power to power like Europe instead Asians wanted to live in modest and peaceful way most of them. ✌️

Everyone is proud to be an ASEAN member, but why the Indonesians are constantly seeking validation and wanting to be seen as the leader and most superior amongst them. Am I missing something here?

ASEAN members do not have any intentions apparently to mimic EU at present and in the future.. ASEAN members have stark differences in languages n other aspects related to culture and state/social systems.. they realize it very well.. In no easy way that ASEAN will become a new europe.. However, they also realize that common good can be achieved through harmonizing their interests in a diverse groupping called ASEAN..

PRG government is a hindrance to ASEAN stability especially with PRC government plan to invade Taiwan and PRC government encroachment and exclusive claim for the South China sea, and disrespecting the SOVEREIGNTY of Asian nations (Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc.) No brainer!

No amount of economic cooperation will make PRC government an ally of any nation!!!! A true China will not harm Taiwan!!! A true China will not invade Taiwan!!! A true China will EMBRACE Taiwan as a FREE and SOVEREIGN NATION!!! But PRC government is NOT a true China!!! asean has no common currency, with the exception if Brunei and Singapore. If there's a need to adopt common currency, they would have to issue 3 currencies.
