HOW TO FORMAT A BOOK IN WORD basic novel formatting using microsoft word

I've now used this vid to format three books--and I always come back to it, even though I've taken copious notes. It's so much easier watching how Natalia does it. I am eternally grateful! This is a godsend! Thank you!

Thank you for a tutorial that I can understand! Whoo hoooo! I have written a novel, its just under 94000 words and I did format it when I started, but now I want to change, and add, some things . I got lost doing that, maybe your tutorial will help me to sort it out. If not I have someone who might be able to help me, or I could see if enchantedinkpublishing is the way to go. I have just spent a couple of hours looking at all the different how-to formats in Word videos and trying to do what they said! I even ordered a book in MS format before I found your tutorial. It is by far the best tutorial I have seen. I followed along with each step you did and your clear instructions, had to look at your pictures of the word page you were working on at times. But, guess what? I actually did it! I want to thank you, thank you, thank you. Not to say the others were not decent, but their explanation of what they were doing was just not concise enough to really follow. They could learn from you - You are the bomb lady.

My Microsoft word doesn’t have the same feature as you but besides that I really love your vid. It still helps with other stuff thanks 🙏

Dear Natalia, I was watching this video again (as I lost the sheet upon which I wrote the directions) and another question popped into my mind. When the book is formatted for paperback, would you leave the font at 12 or make it a bit smaller at 11? I'm just curious.

Hi, just finished going through your video which I found to be really informative and may be the solution to my formatting problems with the Word doc I am using. After going through the tutorial I thought I would take a swing at Chapter Styles first. After multiple attempts, the result was worse than I could possibly do by not using the Chapter Style formatting. I don't want to go through the problems here but if you will be good enough to email me perhaps you can show me where I am going wrong. Thank you in advance, Philip A.

I'm really glad to hear that you also had trouble with writing a novel and then not doing anything with it. I've done that with a few myself and felt bad about that. But thank you for sharing this.

You could do all the formatting shown here using the styles by just editing them the way you want your text to look and then just apply the style to the corresponding text. This way you can always edit the text without the need to format it again to resemble your existing work.
This way you can also edit the style if you changed your mind on something and it will automatically apply it to all sections corresponding to it. No need to redo the whole thing.
