This movie scared the bajeezus out of me in 1982. The fear concepts were unlike anything i witness prior... all the goo, slime, tentacles, and assimilations were.....unsettling.
ОтветитьStop motion is delightful but it always is evident. Unless there is a humorous element it is difficult to insert into live action. It doesn’t work here.
ОтветитьDefinitely looks kinda derpy.
ОтветитьThe ending is so forgettable because the effects don't come near the level of the rest of the movie.
ОтветитьI think omittting this. It's not quite as effective as the rest of the fx. the implied potential trumps the showing it off.
ОтветитьTruly horrifying and you don’t even see it attacking or anything besides barely moving a bit. Better than most “monsters” from today that barely give you the chills with their appearances. Captures the terrifying and sick monstrosity that inspires terror just from watching it and imagining the dozens of way it would slaughter you like mere cattle
ОтветитьWhy did they cut this sequence it so fucking good and The Thing is underrated it's literally a perfect masterpiece
ОтветитьWell, that explains the dog.
ОтветитьPretty cool, I think it looks good. I think it was cut more for pacing and the dog tentacle really doesn’t add much like it doesn’t attack or anything just kinda sits there
ОтветитьI kinda like this...
ОтветитьIve seen this . All of this. But now you guys saying its not in the film now ?..that sucks.. course I'm bias from seeing this version first.
ОтветитьGeiger monsters?
ОтветитьSe percibe la artificialidad pero al mismo tiempo es tan horroroso que anula esa falta de realismo.
ОтветитьI'm glad they didn't go with the stop-motion.
ОтветитьI think they made the right decision. The stop motion doesn't quite fit in with the mechanical special effects. Wish they'd found another way to do the tentacles grabbing the dynamite plunger, too.
ОтветитьEpic movie. Epic effects.
ОтветитьIr was the right decision to cut the stop motion. The scale in the wide shot just doesn't look right, it looks like the miniature it is. The close up of the dog rupturing from inside the creature could have maybe stayed in, though.
ОтветитьGood film that should be remade
ОтветитьJonestly wish this was kept in. (Not the bursting from ground shot, bur the wide ones.) sure, it isn't the best, but there's other stopmotion in the film they kept, like the dog kennel tenticles in a shot. And it looks good, especially the dog leaping out.
Plus any chance to see more of these forms is a must
If they make this for 3D movie
Help a little CG.
That's will be Great 🎉
I still wonder what the point was the spawn the dog out from it's body
Ответитьdidnt look like a stop motion.
ОтветитьI remember seeing The Thing in the theater at 14. I never felt so cheated. Boy am I glad they deleted this.
ОтветитьI love the movie. It's one of my all time favorites. But this was a pretty stupid move for 'The Thing' considering how intelligent it was shown to be through the movie.
ОтветитьHow tall was the monster when fully erected ? It looks as tall as the doorway
ОтветитьI'am watching this movie like once a month If not more.
ОтветитьRob bottin should of won best makeup artist at the oscars that year. 👍
ОтветитьIt looks pretty bad, in a Jason and the Argonauts stop motion way. For better and more seamless stop motion, see Total Recall (1990) where the "2 weeks" woman segments and removes her head to reveal Arnie. I'm pretty sure the scenes where people choke in the thin atmosphere of Mars were also stop motion. Smooth as silk.
ОтветитьNo other sci-fi horror movies can come close to John Carpenter's the Thing.
Ответитьok movie 1 play after story from movie 2 i hope they make a part 3 movie and kurt russell is on board... movie 1 he not dying ending was open....
ОтветитьGood choice to keep it out.
ОтветитьThe stop motion effect looks amazing, but it wasn't necessary. Showing too much of the monster is never a good idea.
Ответитьhad that have been done using the same puppetry it would've been a bit more nightmarish because it would've flowed with the rest especially if shot right. Great movie.
ОтветитьStraight up love this film. One of my all time favourites
ОтветитьThis movie never got the traction in theaters because ET came out at the same time. The Thing became iconic after it was avaiable at Blockbuster.
ОтветитьReminiscent of some old-school Ray Harryhausen /
Jason and the Argonauts-style animation, but now more distractingly comic than frightening.
Very good scenes uncut (The thing 1982).Fan.😂
ОтветитьI don't mind stop motion animation, but it would've felt inconsistent in a movie that also featured groundbreaking special effects. I agree that the movie was better without it.
ОтветитьAfraid I have to agree with cutting it.
It's not terrible, but it does look off.
Too bad Nauls' death wasn't filmed.
ОтветитьOne of the greatest NON-CGI’d movies ever made!😅
ОтветитьWhy do i have the feeling that the dog in blair thing's chest is nauls mixed with a dog?
ОтветитьScary but useless.
ОтветитьThe first scene in which The Thing is seen raising, seems OK.
Could have been kept, right until Blair's face becomes visible.
However, the other scenes don't look good.
Good thing it was not used!
ОтветитьWhose face is it at the side of the thing's jaws, Blair?
ОтветитьScared the F out of me the first time...love it!
ОтветитьI always loved Mc Ready’s line YEAH? Well f*ck you too!!!😖🤣😆
Ответитьone of the best horrors ever, a masterpiece
