I mainly use speech to text on my phone and my laptop to type. a lot of the reason being that my laptop is not always on my lap it's usually actually on the other side of the room and I have my mouse with me and my flat screen TV is my monitor. I went to googles website to do a search. I was doing a search and I asked if it was OK if I gave my cat chocolate milk. Speech to text should have just simply typed out what I said but instead it typed out "no". Which is nowhere near just some honest mistake from what I had said by the way the answer is no it's not okay but I still don't understand why my speech-to-text answered my question instead of just typing out what I said. this is no joke I swear to you this happened. This isn't Google assistant or anything either I'm just simply using speech to text to type out what I want to type

I had created an email account just for FB and I had gone through all the privacy settings before launching it, making everything private. Nothing about me was in the email account for FB. FB then (3 times before I stopped using it) did updates that broke my privacy settings. Before I could react they had gathered information of my contacts from other email accounts not associated with my FB account. They even gave themselves access to my devices that didn't have FB on it, such as my phone and tablet, all snaking in through the unrelated email accounts. They even gathered data on me through people I knew who were clueless about privacy.
We really should be paid for our data. It's as if we have thousands of companies watching us in a glass house. No privacy. And it's unavoidable. My house information is with the City and the City gave that to Zillow who refuses to remove it because, as I was told, it's public records.

Watched this for a class, and I don't really agree. Companies don't force you to buy their stuff. You can still choose. I agree that I want my data private but at the end she seems to willing roll over that "she has no choice anymore". I feel pity that is her mindset. I view that I am in charge of my life, therefore its direction, my choices and ultimately my outcome is a culmination of what I choose.

So what do we do?

I cannot influence how policies are formed based on my characteristics from data that has already been collected, but I can prevent excess advertising exposure, limit the amount of data they collect about me by private browsing, using Tor and similar tools. And when it comes to it I ditch Windows and go on Linux at some point. Google will also become my tertiary account, not the primary one. I am already working on alternatives.

I have seen popup adverts but never klicked on one,
never in my life ever bought anything online,
do not own a credit or debit card, only pay cash.
I have an email but do not even receive spam....
I do not live at the adress where I am registred.
I have a tablet that never moves, it works without a SIM, the WIFI is registred to another person and I use a VPN.
She mentioned she got some profiled something from Facebook, the only books I have are made of paper. I have never downloaded a single App in my life.... I have never been approached/solicited by Twitter/Snapp + all the others she mentioned.
I fish and farm my consumables , have never been solicited/adviced about best manure except for when my friend gets drunk there is nothing stopping his advice pouring out.....! He never water down his still produce to less then 67,5° anything below he gives me but only fair bcs he uses my cane juice......
