ОтветитьVery helpful video. It's been 7 months since my transplant.

Should research Dr. Royal Lee, the father of Holistic medicine and founder of Standard Process. He discovered that if you ate organ meat your immune system would go after the decoy tissue. So eating Kidney, is a decoy away from the kidney.
Also, Organ meats arent technically considered to be red meat, not that red meat is proven in any way whatsoever to be harmful to the kidney.
Oxalate foods should be avoided, sugar should be kept at Zero. All unltra-processed foods should be minimised as much as possible.
Bread, pasta, crackers, most things in a box are processed im afraid. Bread is fortified with Folic acid, and you shouldnt take supplements as a kidney doctor would tell you. This automatically puts a lot of foods in the supermarket out of question. Fortifying foods is adding synthetic things to foods if people didnt know.
Know that Tacrolimus causes electrolyte imbalance, hyperkalemia and hyponutremia. So you may need to adjust based on your monthly draws, but know that it is the medications which will always have a bigger affect on this than what youre eating.
So this Mediterranean diet.. I wouldnt do grains (too processed) Legumes include Beans so why the doctor stated both who knows. Legumes can be higher in oxalates btw.
All plants come with antinutrients. Just google the plant and add antinutrients. Example, Nuts antinutrients.
Thank you for sharing doctor
ОтветитьThank you so much am keen on specializing in dialysis
ОтветитьIts been 6 months since my transplant i really want to keep my kidney healthy and want to take a really good care. Your video is helpful thank you doctor. 🙏🏻

ОтветитьBluest eyes this side of Ellen.
ОтветитьHi Dr. Blake a new subscriber here, I like your channel because it covers not only regarding kidney, being a Nephrologist. But you have cooking tips for different kind of illness, which helps a lot of people including me, my husband and family. I've worked as a dialysis tech way back home (Philippines), and worked with a Nephrologist. I have a friend back home who is on Rena Diet after her kidney transplant 5 years ago, I will definitely share your cooking tips with her. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, may God bless you more🙏
ОтветитьThanks 🙏
ОтветитьI had my kidney transplant in February 2010 from a deceased donor. I have a creatinine score in the 2.1 to 2.9 and my nephrologist said it’s great. I have been following a Mediterranean diet for most of the 12 years but I need some new recipes. So, I am looking forward to your book (should be here 21 Dec., 2022)! Peace ✌️
ОтветитьThanks dr. It's true nobody really tells you after you get your transplant what you "should" be eating.
ОтветитьTacrolimus - avoid grapefruit juice
Have Mediterranean diet
Immunosuppressive medicines to prevent your body from attacking the foreign kidney.
Food borne illnesses - raw fish like sushi, oysters, unpasteurised dairy, undercooked eggs, meat.
Aim for lower sodium diet, less animal protein, lots of fruits and veggies
Green tea made my Tacrolimus level rise
ОтветитьYour team should've told you all this before you left the hospital if you went to a good hospital (transplanted Feb 17th mayo phoenix)
ОтветитьI got a deceased donor who was a perfect match. I'm a year and 4 months and everything is going great but one tip I can't stress enough is DO ANY EXERCISE you can because fatigue will hit you out of nowhere for no reason after transplant. Everytime I don't workout for days on end my body feels super tired. Even a 20 min at home quick workout will ease the fatigue. I'm counting calories and losing weight. It works for me. Cheers to all🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
ОтветитьAre these the same for the donor?
ОтветитьWould like to find a good kidney friendly recipie book without a lot of ingredients I can’t use. Why is yours better than others?
ОтветитьYour are so right about not much information being available about post transplant diet. I have been searching for years but couldn't find anything. Many videos convey very wrong information as well.
ОтветитьThanks DR❤️👍
ОтветитьI’m three weeks out from my transplant surgery. My readings are dropping every time I go in for a check up. I started with a creatinine level of 11, then a 6 and now it’s at a 3. I had zero pain from the surgery and was up and walking two days after the surgery, I feel like I’ve gotten my life back after nine years of waiting. I want to protect my new kidney but I also want to enjoy food. When you first talk to a dietician it’s overwhelming, mostly what not to do, I want to know what I can eat.
ОтветитьThanks doctor
Ответить❤
ОтветитьKey - LOW salt diet (never ever stop salt completely as it may lead to dehydration and eventually trouble your kidney)
ОтветитьJust had a kidney transplant in July I want to take good care of my new kidney but I’m very grateful ❤
ОтветитьThank you so much Doctor!! I’m on the transplant list approved God is great!!
Ответитьi have been wondering what to eat and what not to eat post kidney tx. I honestly feel as if i am eating mainly the carbs all the time as one has to limit the animal protein and i have completely taken myself off all the meats and don't really like the taste of tofu/soy. How much protein would you suggest one should eat post kidney tx and what all proteins one can eat ??
ОтветитьJust have my kidney transplant I am following you for food eating
ОтветитьI had kidney transplant 8 years ago. All functioning well. I do vegetarian diet 3 days a week. Parsley, corn leaf and Arabic gum juice are my close friends. Still struggling with over weight though 😊
ОтветитьHi looking for a kidney donor?
ОтветитьHi from trinidad looking for a kidney donor willing to pay whatever 😢
ОтветитьMy father recently had a kidney transplant last week and these videos are very helpful for him and I. My father has been on diyalisis for 11 years so it was a big blessing and gift.
ОтветитьI'm in the UK been on the list for 4 years, just had my kidney removed my other kidney is polysystic and doesn't work, I feel unwell all the time, I'm sick, can't eat that well and fluid restriction its terrible, I hope I get my kidney soon, God bless you all who have had your transplant ❤
ОтветитьIn April I will have had my second kidney 31 years and hope I continues to go well. I did get hepatitis C from a blood transfusion. They cured it, and now I have cirrhosis of the liver. Which intern makes me have to take diuretics, which is very hard.
ОтветитьI had my kidney transplant 13/7/10. My mother donated kidney. My creatinine is now 1.5 .
Ответить5/4/24 I got mine. Thanks for the food info. even on dialysis my appetite was was good but now I need to change up the diet a little bit to keep the new kidney and my self healthy
ОтветитьIndeed, I was in a dilemma after the transplant: the doctor says everything, but not too much??? At the hospital, they provided me with meat, rice, juices, dairy, legumes, and soup
ОтветитьSuper helpful. Thank you.
ОтветитьI never knew that they left the bad ones in, I assumed that they took all of the bad out and just gave you one good one... Why did I think that?
ОтветитьThank you! My uncle just had a double transplant, heart, and kidney. Funny you said Mediterranean diet bc I was diagnosed with MS back in 6 my Dr recommended that I get on that. Praying it works.
