She was the third of four children born to young parents determined to build a family. Unlike many little girls, she preferred playing football and baseball with her brother over dolls with her sisters. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm were channeled into academics and athletics, driven by a desire to prove my capabilities to myself rather than to show off. The medical journey she faced at twelve years old was challenging, but she was determined to keep her struggles private and earn her accomplishments through her own efforts. It’s all in her book.
