Had to play a game for class today where I balanced the budget... was reminded of this scene. Dave does a lot better than I did--but then again, I'm not an accountant :') Love this movie, I need to rewatch it soon

Always impressive how little Whollyodd screenwriters know about how politics works. One cannot go over the entire budget in an "all-nighter". It's too big and too complex, particularly for a low-rent actor like Dave to manage.

How it actually should be

To me, Dave was One Great Scene. The score and music by James Howard Newton was brilliant especially "the Picnic" and "Are You Threatening me." It touches my soul and takes me to a peaceful place.

90s Frank Langella would have made a brilliant Lex Luthor, he even looks like the 90s cartoon Lex.

Frank Langella is an actor you just love to hate, like Larry Linville (Frank Burns) or Bruce Dern's early bad cowboy characters.

If it were only that simple.

good fun movie. Sad part of this is all the people in the defense contractors and the ad campaign that are now out of work because their funding was just cut. they dont bother to explore that side of things. So yeah that 8 year old kid has some place to sleep but the dozens of families that relied on those jobs are now without income and are now filling those shelters. glad it's only a movie

I love this movie. Frank Langella having a blast playing the Bad Guy in the White House. 😆

So fast forward from this type of thinking. We now have over $33 trillion in debt. Is this cause of military spending or car commercials? No. INo, a look at the numbers that this movie so clearly cares about will show that our spending is on social services. (Whilst tax receipts rising). A dumb movie for dumb people with our today's dumb results.

This is how politicians that are elected by the people and for the people (not corporations)should be behaving instead how the current republicans are where they want you to be afraid and angry and and the democrats are not much both parties tied to their corporate donors 😢

650 million dollars. Not even 1 Billion dollars. We just sent Ukraine another $40,000,000,000.00 and gas went up another 15c/G. Wow the dollar is worthless now.

I love this movie. But is it just me or did they pick Kline because he actually sorta looks like FDR?

If we got all new blood in D.C. and they set aside their ego's in order to make decisions in the best interest of the people, I think this could actually happen. Maybe not this simply specifically, but it could actually happen.

Dave’s a great American politics film. I think this is the one that put Frank Langella back on the Hollywood map.

Everyone is ok with a dictatorship -- provided the dictator shares their political positions. Left-wingers love this dictatorship, because he's doing what they want. If this was a Repubican, the scene would have dark sinister music...because dictatorships are baaaaad. But this one has Disney-esque hopeful music, because "he's doing what WE want" lol

Love how the cabinet members went from not wanting to change the way things are done to rooting for Dave because he made them feel like they’re a part of something important

Meanwhile, the Joe Biden replacement keeps sniffing children just like the original.

I like how he assumes that once the federal government stops paying its defense contractors that they won't either deliver on the contracts or sue for breach of contract. Either way you don't get to just shove all that "extra money" into savings bonds for over a year. On top of that, the Government can't put that much money into bonds without crashing the value of those bonds and thus reducing the yields he's counting on.

This is a great example of how everyday average people think budgets work, but really don't.

I wish Toronto council would do this
