On show to the public in wartime black livery for the first time since World War 2.

Soon to be introduced to mainline operations on railtours initially in the North of England.

The volunteers and others have done an extraordinary job in restoring the 'Flying Scotsman' I think it is scheduled to run two shuttle services in September between York and Shildon over a weekend and operate on a heritage railway (East Lancs?). It will be great seeing her in action again on longer rail tours. Thanks for your comment.

Well done vid Allan, good coverage despite the crowds and like the close-ups. Did FS carry the number 502 at some time? Obviously it must have but do you know the story? Thanks for a preview of this fine loco and I can hardly wait to hear her in action again. Ken

@kenbrowne1947 - Thanks Ken. Yes the crowd was large so had to make do. A fantastic sight and looking good in wartime black. Apparently it carried number 502 in 1946 or so I beleive. Not sure why. Also has carried numbers 1472, 103, 60103 and 4472. It will be great to see it hammering along the ECML soon. Cheers, Allan.

Ta for the info Allan. Just viewed your photos and it looks almost like a new engine in the close up shots you took! What a marvellous job the NRM have done in the restoration. Thanks for that. Ken

@MonochromeLoco - Thanks for your comment. I am glad this brought back some memories for you. The number of people at the museum was testimony to the popularity of the 'Flying Scotsman'. I hope you can make another visit one day.
