The Polaroid of him pointing at his heart but when he has flashes of him and his wife on the bed and it has a sudden tattoo of “I’ve done it” in the place of it is another part that makes things even better

this happens to mk ultra victims. after tramautic events the mind closes off or honeycombs certain sections to keep the person from remembering as a defense. get enough tramautic experiences and your mind becomes comparmentalized like a honeycomb

How did Lenard remember he had a condition when he lost all short term memory the moment he sustained a head injury?

Well, Sammy was probably real, but he wasnt like Lenny's story. Sammy didnt have a wife and he was trying to swindle the insurance company.

The center of the genesis and the genius of this work of this piece of art, which is Mememto, for me, begins with the characters. (Lenny is an investigator, as we know, which means that he is clever ("narcissistic") and quite capable of being an expert in deceit. The main (or the more critical) characters (and movers) are essentially criminals who also play the role of cops.

As we know, cops are obliged, and sometimes, without favor, to forcefully detain and even murder if deemed necessary. The cop is a judge and executioner. I can't go into the details here, but trust me, the characters and the plot are nearly inextricable. I enjoyed this movie mainly because I'm getting a bang for my buck. One can never stop trying to figure it all out.

And when we think that we have reached the end, we realize the most critical aspect of Memento is that it makes us realize just how thin is our grip on sanity and reality. Could it be that sometime in our lives, it would be just as well never to wake up?

Thee is more, way more. The part of the brain that forms new memories has two lobes, a left and a right. Watch that attack incident again; Leonard's damage is to the left hippocampus, which processes language and numbers. His right hippocampus is perfectly functional, so he remembers visual and spatial events, but doesn't know why. Even crazier, the neuroscience research on this kind of trauma was not reported until 2004, or five years after the movie was made!

"Lenny!" "It's Leonard...like I told you before." What's going on here? How does Leonard remember before? Throughout the film, it is made clear that Leonard cannot make new memories. Is this scene an oversight, or is it a clue that Leonard remembers now?

The film shows that Leonard’s journey is all a waste just a puzzle he made up when Teddy told him the real truth after he killed Jimmy.

Small fact: the book that Leonard's wife is reading is Claudius the God by Robert Graves. I don't know whether that's significant, though - unless it's implies the godlike knowledge that the viewer has by comparison with Leonard's faulty recall.

Completely missed the point about Teddy trying to get his hands on the car. Stunning, I actually thought it was kind of a flaw in the story that the money never plays a role any more. But once more, Nolan tricked me.

I think there are two things about Natalie you did not mention on the video:
1. We can briefly see how she hides the pens in her bag before provoking Leonard to hit her so he won't find one. Later she tells him there's one in her bag.
2. I believe the coaster, while not being meant for Leonard, is not meant for Jimmy either (why should it say "ask for Natalie" as he is her boyfriend). I think Jimmy has it in his pocket to give it to a person who wants to buy drugs, as Natalie and the bar are somehow involved in how they pull off the deals. If I remember correctly, this is mentioned at some point in the film.

I think sammy and Lenny are two people because 😮 if lenny wife was a diabetic how do you explain the police report that lenny been using for information to kill John G? I 🤔 think that sammy and his wife were real to lenny and kept the tattoo to remind himself that he was at fault sammy life and not approving the insurance claim, that he lied to sammy wife that he could create new memories and the death of sammy wife and losing his own wife via violent entry. The point is that lenny wife was never a diabetic at all just another lie to put in lenny head to create confusion and keep using him. I thought that lenny was sammy too but if you really look at this situation Teddy 🐻 keep telling lies to lenny and the only time he is tell the truth when he made serious face about who took out the 12 pages and it was lenny not teddy to create a puzzel he could never solve to give his life meaning.
So what happen to sammy happen exactly what the movie shows us. Sammy was put in a mental institution, sammy killed his wife and the irony is that the same circumstances happen to lenny.

Remember Lenny can remember everything as long as he is not fed a lie by teddy 😅

For a split second the face of Sammy, sitting in a therapy chair after he lost his wife, is changed to Lennys face - but it so fast, that it is nearly impossible to see it, while regularly watching the film (considering by this time the parallel between these hasnt been clear to us viewers by this time).
Furthermore in the final scene Lenny tries to reconfirm himself ('even if I close my eyes, the worlds gonna be out there") and while he does that he envisions a scene with his wife in his arms, but: he's fully tattoed (which wouldnt work in his own world view/memory) Furthermore on his chest there's the tattoo" Ive done it" (placed at the exact place, where Teddy says its gonna be after 1st mirdet) - which doesnt exist in other scenes + we csn perfectly read as viewers (which doesnt make sense either, because it should be mirrored).
All this ideas leaving the solution behind, that the Lenny, we are seeing, isnt the real Lenny. BUT: the way we are LOOKING this movie is Lenny itself and our expectations towards storybuilding are an integral part of us, beeing manipulated by the film into wrong pictures and answers - I LOVE this film!!!!!

Marvelous film.. Guy Pearce was perfectly cast, and Christopher Nolan weaved this story so intricately. It still boggles the mind sometimes. When its DVD released, it was one of THEE must-have DVDs to own. Such an awesome film. Got me into following Nolan's career immediately afterwards. Same with Guy Pearce.

Which movie came out first? Memento or 50 First Dates?!?!? lol

TLDR: Christopher Nolan’s Memento is a blatant copy of Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates! they’re basically 1 and the same movie! I believe Sandler could have sued!

Practically identical scripts, swap out the Polaroids for a Journal and or a VHS and later some paintings based on dreams, (extremely creative having some memories getting stored to the part of the brain that causes dreams, since it’s located in a different part of the brain that’s been damaged) I mean common, I think Adam Sandler might have written laps around Christopher Nolan in this case alone, not to mention the abundance of other ideas that feel practically lifted scene for scene! Sandler might even have had grounds to file a lawsuit protecting his intellectual property. But Adam Sandler is such a good guy, and incredibly successful he probably didn’t feel it was necessary do get into the ugly business of filing lawsuits regardless of the clear, easy comparisons that can be made!

Ironically, the actor who plays Sammy, plays an insurance salesman in "Groundhog Day" which is almost a photo negative for this movie. It also lends credence to the "Sammys not real" theory. He could have been watching that movie during the attack.
