In a way, Devata(like Sun,Water, Fire,Moon,Earth etc) and othe forces of nature who have become part of Sanatan Dharm(Eternal/Supreme Truth) has transcended everything, in a way they are enlightened.
This is the problem, when you get enlightened you'll loose your Self(Ahamkar) and thus Jivatma(Life force) will slip out of body, to prevent it Yogis often keeps a small portion of karm attached to themselves which maintain their ahamkar and can survive while being enlightened just like Ganesha, his limited self(head) got cut by Shiv and when Shiv recognised him as his own his head was replaced by Elephant, a sign of Universal/Santan Ahamkar that's not just limited to self.
